Crypto bill
I was just watching the senate vote about a bill involving crypto and I had no idea how babyish politics is.

Everyone agreed to an amendment in the crypto bill amendment except senator shelby from Alabama.

He didn't actually object to the amendment he probably didn't actually understand it, but he said he won't stop his objection unless his military spending is supported aswell.

Wow my mind is blown, some other senators expressed disbelief at how stupid this process is aswell.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

RE: Crypto bill
I am from Alabama, so I can sympathize. It probably isn't that Shelby doesn't understand the bill or crypto so much as he is determined to get something he wants and has some leverage over a totally unrelated bill. Senators have all sorts of people advising and informing them and sometimes they know full well what they are doing even when they sound like nincompoops.

Everything in politics is transactional. This is why I am conservative-ish about federal spending. I do believe more of what the federal government does should be done by the states and perhaps even locally. Whatever Shelby is wanting probably costs billions of dollars and this likely means Alabama will be getting tax money paid by people from some other state. Alabama receives more tax money than it puts in every single year.

RE: Crypto bill
I've just visited his twitter page where he has posted basically saying he thinks the military is more important than crypto even though he doesn't want to stifle the crypto technology.

He has literally hundreds of replies in protest.
Some with very heart felt speeches pleading for him to reconsider, other people just sending pictures of him with a penis drawn over his face in microsoft paint lol.

Weirdly the crypto markets seem to not give a fuck and everything is going up but I don't understand why.

When it comes to politics, money and markets im learning each day that I know literally nothing about either. My mind is always blown by whats going on, its like the mad hatters tea party.

RE: Crypto bill
I don't think that crypto is anywhere near as serious as the funding of a military. Crypto..is a pet rock. They can draw all the dick pictures they want to prove how vry srs they are - and it's still a pet rock.

Crypto currency is a very serious matter. Think about this for a minute. Every sovereign state/entity on the planet creates its own money, and the money supply is what keeps any economy in balance. Crypto currency is not controlled by any government. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it sure is something we haven't seen before.

What do you mean "real commodity"?  Crypto currency is backed by nothing, just like regular money.

It's backed by electricity. The more electric power you invest the more "revenue" you get Smile
