You seem to be the only one splitting hairs, really. Whether the cleanliness-cockroach thing is a myth or a stereotype is completely irrelevant to the point I was making. But if it’ll calm you down, I’m happy to rephrase:

The widely held belief that only people with filthy habits get roaches is untrue.

I live in the tropics six months out of the year and I can say a good predictor of whether or not you have to deal with roaches is "do you live in or near the tropics?".

I wouldn't expect some random dude from Michigan to understand that, though.

One of my nieces lived in Hawaii for a few years. She came to appreciate having geckoes in the domicile.

Having a cat and three dogs makes life a challenge here for a gecko who gets seen. They are around, and if they are careful they are welcome to stay. I found a little one scooting across the kitchen floor the other night sans tail. I moved him to less populated territory.

Tomorrow is National Cheeseburger Day! I'm not sure how I'll celebrate. I'm more a hamburger person.

When I was stationed in Arizona there was a fast food place we would stop at frequently. The man in my life at the time would stop and grab food on his way home. For me he would order a cheeseburger, ketchup only. More often than not I got a hamburger with ketchup. Of course he was still upcharged for the cheese.
