Nah dude, that's just the way it is. Can't change what was meant to be.

Again, lack of insight. Many make intentional changes.

Why should I change? I'm happy with who I am and I don't cause harm to others.

Does that mean that you never did or that you don't need mental health treatment then or now?

I can attest to the fact that emotions can be controlled. How do I know? When growing up I was beaten for crying. You know what I learned how to do? I learned not to cry, even if in physical pain. Is that healthy...nope. And it's something I have never unlearned.

Emotions can come up but we can control how we express or deal with those emotions. It takes some self-knowledge and learning what's appropriate.

Perhaps if I had not been diagnosed and medicated, things would've gone bad. I have no idea.

I think things were going bad prior to your original mental health treatment or there would have been no reason to see a psychiatrist. The fact that you are receiving treatment is an attempt to change. Unless your not complying with treatment. Which is it?

My psychiatrist wants me to attend therapy. I haven't done that.

Then I'd conclude that you're lacking insight into your mental health and at least partially noncompliant. Maybe you need therapy maybe you don't. What reason does the psychiatrist give for you needing therapy? Plus your resistance to therapy and change may be an indication that you need therapy but ultimately it would be a waste of time.

Are you taking medication as prescribed as part of your treatment?

To be clear, saying meditation works or doesn't work is a misnomer.  Meditation can have many positive outcomes.  It has benefitted me greatly, but it did take some time before I was able to see positive results.  It isn't a light switch.  Like Yoga, it take practice and patience to see the value.  Like many things in life, its a skill that requires development.

That's self-fulfilling prophesy.  I can name you a thousand things people have changed for the better.  What if everyone said, nah, can't change segregation; it was meant to be.  What if they said, nah, can't change Nazi Germany, it was meant to be.  So we should all just ignore anything that isn't good and accept the world as it is?  Sorry, that's a defeatist attitude and demonstrably false philosophy.
Why is it so?

Yeah I am. I'm pretty sure I'm only being told to seek therapy because she wants me to "get with the program" and do what everyone else is doing.
