That Gay Thread
RE: That Gay Thread
Quote:What do you mean you didn't know that? Dave talks about beating up the trans lady in his special. I thought you watched it? Did you just have it on in the background while you were not really paying attention to it and doing other things?
Nope I watched it and he never said he beat up a Trans person he said he beat up a Lesbian

Quote:He also claimed he once beat up a butch lesbian who punched him and that she tried to sell the story to TMZ. “I’m glad TMZ didn’t believe that — because I did beat the shit out of her,” he says. “I’m not gonna lie. It was her fault. I had no choice.” In addition, he says he nearly got into a physical fight with a white gay man who confronted him in a bar.

Quote:Of course I wouldn't acknowledge he was transphobic, because he wasn't. He was railing against cancel culture, and authoritarian SJWs who happen to be trans. It's not necessarily about them being trans. It's about them trying to destroy and bury comedy. Dave loves his profession, so he's doing what he feels is necessary at this point in history to save comedy. Comedians not only 'can' do this, they NEED to do this, or comedy dies.
No, you wouldn't because you're fine with it. And this virtue signaling about "preserving comedy and the "evil SJWs is all bullshit. Daves is a regressive bigot who needs to go away and Comedy is fine without people like him.

I watched a trans ladies' youtube video responding to the special, and of course she hated it, but she then went on to say that Lil' Naz X is problematic because he made a joke about going back to dating women. Some people will be satisfied with no less than the cancellation of comedy itself.

My bad on the lesbian part. I remembered trans for some reason. False memories.

Dave said the lady tried to sell the story to TMZ, but they turned her down. I can't find news stories about it so I assume there were no police involved when this happened. The way Dave tells the story though, defending himself was justified.

But it's just his story so...as usual, no credibility from you.

His story was probably what you and he think are forms of comedy.

Yup, he knew the difference between edgy humor and weaponizing comedy to reinforce negative views about minorities.

Now that this thread has been thoroughly crapped on by IA and Smuggy...how about we give it back to it's original intent.

Why would I waste my time on someone, who for one, is not interested in learning anything new that might threaten your currently held beliefs on the subject, and for two, doesn’t value science in the first place, as evidenced by your acceptance of a literal interpretation of the Bible?

Talking donkies, Huggy. Why would I spend my time trying to educate someone who believes in talking donkies? You have access to Google Scholar. Use it.

And you belive the universe and life popped up out of nothing...

If God exists, I think making a donkey talk would be pretty trivial in comparison to creating the universe, creating life, walking on water, raising the dead, etc.

Look all you have to say is you can't find any peer reviewed sources, It would have taken less effort to just provide a link than to use all this energy in dodging the question.

He didn't want comedians deplatformed, so kudos to him for that, and he clearly didn't want comedy to die out like people today do, but a lot of his comedy was super political, so it's not too surprising that he felt that way, and he's only one man so his opinion only counts for so much. It looks like he was talking about more hateful comedy. When he was talking about white male rage, I don't think he would have included Dave Chappelle as a part of that. Dave's Jew joke was a good one, and while people are calling him anti-Semetic for it, the joke was simply standing up for Palestinians.

And in that clip, Carlin talks about comedians going after people abusing their power. Many trans people abuse their status as trans, to try to shame platforms into censoring those that disagree with them, and many of them even want laws to legally hold people accountable for saying the types of things Dave said. This is authoritarianism, and comedians should certainly be punching at authoritarians.

I agree, your guys whiny opinions about Dave Chapelle are clearly in the minority, so let's move on.
