Just got back from the shop. Found a package on the doorstep. It was from the real estate people from whom I bought this house. The package contained a large card congratulating me on 30 years in this house. Also some cake. They have sent me a Xmas card every year since I've been here. Good business certainly, but appreciated just the same. Has put me in a gooder mood

Holy crap. I ordered liner bags for my 6-quart and 10-quart slow cookers. The 6-quart ones arrive tomorrow. The 10-quart ones aren't expected until January.

 Really. Why?

I'm not being snitty,  I've never heard of them, and yes I have a slow  cooker. (electric) Also have one of those covered thingies made from unglazed pottery. They have a chook (chicken) on the lid.

Geez, I only used an over bag for the first time 3 years ago .I've been cooking every day since 1971--------When I was first married, we took turns, week about. I guess I was a little critical. Whereas I could whip up an evening meal in 30 minutes, it took herself about 2 hours. So I got "Fuck you! You can cook all the bloody meals!" and that was that.

Cruised into my corner liquor store on the way in, looking for something different in a beer single. I haven't had Asahi in a while, and they had it in single cans, but a single can was $3.50, whereas a six-pack was only $10. It didn't make sense to buy a single, so I popped for a six of Tsing-tao which I prefer and was only a dollar more. They also had 12-packs of lime flavored Summit for $6. When I saw it in the cooler, I thought sure that they'd left the '1' off and it was really $15.99. I didn't realize it really was $6 until I saw the free-standing display. I like lime-flavored beer, so I was on that like white on rice. Unfortunately, I didn't think to grab the cold ones, so I have a couple chilling in the freezer. I've had Bud lime before and liked it, but I'm too much of a snob to buy Budweiser in any quantity. But if Summit makes it, well, thumbs up!

There's always a quart or two of runny glop leftover, which means I have to haul the heavy crock into the bathroom and dump it in the toilet, and then haul the crock to the sink to wash it. This will eliminate most of that hassle. A 10-quart crock is a bit unwieldy. Even the 6-quart is no piece of cake.

You empty cooking fat into your toilet? Gee, we're not allowed to.

Beer; there was a minor scandal here a few years ago when people realised  a lot of the expensive 'imported beer' was and is, made here.  It certainly matters; Eg the Guinness made here is nowhere nearly as good as that made in England and Ireland.

I was thrilled to discover that in the US, their relatively cheap beer is even cheaper if you buy six. Here you have to buy a slab for a discount (24 cans or bottles)

Well, I'm back in the USA (if not yet home, yet) so at least if I keel over I'll be insured.

Keel over in safe medical hands! And don't fucking die on us...  Panic
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Made it to the hospital, so I'm in good hands now. JFC, what a brutal travel day that was.
