The Future of Democracy

RE: The Future of Democracy
I’m very interested in what info you have on more moderate liberals buying into this theory. I’m going to be keeping a very watchful eye for that kind of thing now, even on CNN.

I’ve had some run ins with family members myself. I had a LOT of run ins with church members back in 2020, but then again so did our pastor. He might be conservative when it comes to church specific matters but when summer of 2020 hit, he and several of our members marched in the local BLM protests. Naturally I supported that decision, but I noticed the people who immediately left the church afterwards and were never seen again. And my opinions of those people who did leave pretty much went down the drain right then and there. It’s so sad to see people you thought were good and reasonable people turn out to have such skewed views on things that should not be controversial.

RE: The Future of Democracy
All you need to do is google the impending end of the white race. We've had some posters here who linked lib sources as the beginning of their radicalization to reich wing politics - and I believe them.

The whole church thing was a huge blow to us, as our business was explicitly predicated on religiously motivated consumers prior to 2016. They were local allies. They were carbon nuetral allies. They were anti-globalists.....and now....... I say this with bit of shame - but I've explained to The Wife that I will never, until the day I day, be able to shake the misgivings I have now based on the clear and consequential actions of a market demographic I once considered my easy niche.

I don't even want their business..anymore. That's a far cry from a business plan I had that would make local congregations stronger. I'm sitting here right now wondering what the premium might be on non insurrectionist, local, organic produce. What does the difference look like in dollars and cents?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I decided to search accordingly. I see what you mean. It seemed to trend in articles from 2019 specifically. I did come across this more recent poll though, and it gave me some hope for our electorate: https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/20...r-society/

Recently I had been thinking that more people had some of these views all along and Trump just helped them bring it up to the surface. However, evidently it’s not completely that simple, and others have been well and truly ‘converted’. That’s scary.

Under 30, over 65. The first group is worrisome. There you have people who believe that the purported existential dilemma is real.... they just so happen to think it's a good thing, for now, wherever they are. Just one bad job interview away from a race soldier.

Meanwhile, institutional conservatism faces a very real existential dilemma which can't be solved without pandering to and enforcing white supremacy. They just don't have the votes, and they know it.

On a somewhat related note; what about our current SCOTUS? Frankly I’m worried about them fomenting and enabling anti-democratic positions.

Those cowards? Na. They'll punt unless they feel they might have the assent of the pitchfork carrying mob. I think there's a tendency to believe that someone is doing this to us, rather than accepting that we're doing it to ourselves. That people are genuinely frustrated with democracy in practice. Fear and hate, or hope and change. Well - nothings changed and we're all still hoping..and it's not as if anyone can stop the whites from sexing the browns...... There's just not much of an expectation of delivery anymore.

Recent events have made me seriously relfect on the degree to which my business depends on Chinese sourcing. I also have tried to keep international politics out of work but that partition is quickly eroding.

I think the most serious issue - and the greatest threat to democracy - in American politics is that you don’t have any liberals of consequence. You’ve got Bernie and AOC who are closer to being liberals than any of their compatriots, but even they aren’t quite there. Moderate democrats are centre-right. The progressive wing of the Democratic Party are centre-left.

In real-world terms, you’ve saddled yourselves with a political right, a right-leaning centre, and an ineffectual left-leaning centre.

This doesn’t really bode well for either effective governance or the preservation of political liberty.

Good luck.

And this I think ties in with something I mentioned earlier, namely that according to polls, while the majority of Americans are now socially liberal, a significant majority still remains fiscally conservative. If the polls are accurate, then social spending is viewed positively by a minority in the US.

I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

But I think what has always happened in the U.S. to stop social spending is the fear that someone undeserving (i.e. the wrong race) is going to get the money.
