Quote:Conservative podcaster and transphobe Matt Walsh and his fans are angry at Eventbrite because the online ticketing service won’t allow people to create screening events for his anti-trans film What is a Woman?

Walsh has published several tweets accusing Eventbrite of being anti-conservative and hypocritical for banning the showings. In one message notifying an Eventbrite user of their screening’s cancellation, the service wrote, “We do not permit events, content, or creators that promote or encourage hate, violence, or harassment towards others and/or oneself.”

Also worth noting, Matt Walsh is apparently renting out the Fucking Tennessee State Capitol for something called "The Rally To End Child Mutilation."

And somehow, I get the impression that none of these speakers will actually mention that surgeries for trans kids start in the mid-teens at the very earliest. Roughly around the same time Matt Walsh thinks it's okay for them to get pregnant and start their own families. And, yes, as of 12 days ago, he still stands by that idea.

As a transgender female, I would never consider sexual reassignment surgery, but, that's just me and my choice in the matter.  I suspect that for some transgender individuals such is a radical, but necessary, solution for them.  As far as the data that I have encountered, the patients of such surgeries are completely satisfied with their choice, with only a small minority who may come to regret the decision.  But, who's body is it?  As far as the medical ethics involved, it is my understanding that such a decision is not treated casually by the medical profession and the criteria for acceptance for sexual reassignment surgery is a long and arduous road.  It's certainly not a casual decision on the part of the provider.  Of course, I can only speak for myself and not others.  As with Roe v. Wade, some states will probably outlaw the procedure, but not all, and as an United States citizen who has lived in America my entire life (in fact, I have yet to venture outside the US), I think that it is absurd that a patient should have to travel from one state to another to receive their medical, often lifesaving, care.

Could you possibly expand upon this? You don't have to if you don't wish.

I'm just curious because wouldn't maintaining the genitals of the opposite gender with which you identify be a mental issue?

Well, assholes are going to be assholes. It's a sad state of affairs, and I don't really have an explanation of how to get out of it. The amount of psychological sickness in the whole world due to the psychological sickness in the whole world is a cause. How to counter that? I suspect that H Sapiens is working its way out of this, but it's going to take a long time. We're still pretty primitive. Maybe by the time we work this all out, we'll be extinct. Being the apex predator takes a certain amount of viciousness, and when we lose that, we will no longer be the apex predator.

That is not how apex predation works, though. The apex predator is vicious toward other apex predators not of its kind. Humans attacking other humans is just anti-conscientious assholery.

The LGBTQ+ movement wisely chose a rainbow for a reason.  As I sometimes tell people, "I consider myself 70% female, 20% male and 10% guilt" (or, in other words, "20% male, 80% female").

For one, I have been married to a biological woman for 25 years, whom I do very much love and care for!!  We have 5 children, 3 of which are adults and 2 that are not.  As I have posted before, all of my kiddos were conceived while I was on my back.  It's just the way that I am and the way that I have been for nearly 40 years!  (My last successful orgasm "as a man" was in my teens.)  And, I have been "cross dressing" now for 50 years, having begun wearing "women's clothes" around age 5 (first, my mother's, then sister's, her friend's, then my girlfriend's, and, then, my wife's, before, finally, "coming out" and buying my own "women's clothing".)  I guess that I have always felt feminine and womanly, and when I started growing my hair out in my little conservative fundamentalist Christian community in the 80s (the "Welcome wagon" packet that my mother received in the mail had a "Turn or burn" pamphlet in it), I was mocked and ridiculed by others (including some of my teachers), and was told repeatedly that LGBTQ+ folks (the acronym had not yet been coined) were destined to burn in eternal Hell, for which I suffered over a decade of night terrors (and, I mean night terrors and not just nightmares).

In spite of this aspect of my humanity, I have just not felt the need to part with my penis.  For starters, I love my wife and do not wish to part with that aspect of our intimacy, and besides, I have decided for myself that I will, during my life, be married one and only one time, no matter the circumstances.  And, so, my first marriage will be my last, and while I consider the prospect of vaginal sex to be interesting, such will never, ever be a path that I would venture down.  And, besides, being a biological male has certainly dampened any desire to be married to one, even as a transsexual woman.  Sorry, being exposed to them throughout my life has endeared me to the way that many biological women feel about them, and I do not wish to be married or even intimate with one.  Given the choice (if it ever came to such, and, it would not), I would rather have sex with a lesbian.

I am confused by a family member who is trying to have a full hysterectomy due to the dysmorphia their monthly cycle causes them. What confuses me is that the uterus, etc. was important a year and a half ago for getting pregnant and delivering a baby. I'm just puzzled. They can do what they think they need to do.

It may be that though I was a bit of a tomboy when I was young, I didn't want to be a boy which is why I don't understand the need to be seen as a different gender. I realize that the term tomboy is probably out of date but it's what was used for those of us who weren't girly girls back in the day.

My apologies if I have used the wrong terms. I don't understand all of it...but I also don't need to.

It's like asking why a biological male would want to have sex with another biological male; some men are just sexually attracted to other males.  Why, I do not know?!  Ditto for lesbians.  Regardless, if someone is not bothering someone else, then, they should just be left alone.  I have no idea why I can't have an orgasm, except while on my back.  The opposite position feels completely unnatural and awkward for me; why, I do not know!  In any case, my beloved wife got "the job done", and we have 5 children as a result of our (mostly her) combined efforts.

Finally watching Jessie Gender's take on Matt Walsh's What is a Woman? a week after it was initially uploaded (and its initial upload was taken down three hours after it was uploaded.)

Jessie's attempts and ultimate failure at answering the titular question reminds me of the first college class I ever took. It was basically post-Civil War American Literature. The first question the teacher asked: "What is American Literature?"

Literature focused on American themes? Okay, what exactly are "American themes?" I'll wait.
Literature set in America? Okay, so I take it that much of Ernest Hemingway's oeuvre isn't American literature. Even the story of his we're going to read, "The Snows of Kilimanjaro."
Literature written in America? So, many of the later Jeeves and Wooster books are American literature? Because he moved to Long Island in 1946 and didn't leave until shortly before he died in 1975.
Literature written by Americans? Okay. So, Raymond Chandler's novels aren't American. When he wrote his novels (for the most part), among the most vivid depictions of Los Angeles in literature, he was actually a British subject.
Literature featuring American lead characters? So, if I write a novel set in the Nazi era, with no American characters, does that make it German literature? Even if I never left the US in my life?

14 years later, I still don't have an answer. Admittedly, many of the points I raised could be good places to start, but none of them work as full-on definitions are.

I suppose that Matt Walsh's preferred "adult human female" might be a decent place to start for a definition of "woman," probably even one that covers at least 90% of cases, but it's by no means a comprehensive definition.

The video is 4 hours, 20 minutes long. Can someone summarize?

If you want to refer to a "woman" as being only a biological woman, I am completely okay with that. I do not consider myself to be a "woman" but a transgender female. For those who've undergone sexual reassignment surgery I would consider to be transsexual females. Men who present themselves as being male in appearance most of the time but wear "women's clothing" for fun, entertainment, sexual gratification, skirt fetishist or whatever reason, would be known as "crossdressers", which should not be viewed as being derogatory, unless such involves criminal or unethical behavior. Another category would be "gender expression" for biological men who simply wish to express outward femininity, either some, most or (in my case) all of the time. Ditto for transgender and transsexual males.
