[Serious] That Trans Thread
RE: That Trans Thread
Given that it's basically a rebuttal to a feature-length documentary, I suppose a good summation would be "Matt Walsh is an obnoxious, disingenuous, sexist, racist, transphobic piece of shit who trolls people by asking questions and refusing to listen if the answers aren't what he wants to hear."

If it helps, there's 18 chapters in the video, Timestamps in hides:

So, if you're more inclined to watch it in smaller pieces, Jessie's given you a bunch of convenient places to stop and start again. Also, there's the option to play it at 1.25x the speed to make it go by in less time.

Clearly, I'm not a woman. So that's a good starting point.

I have seen the complete Matt Walsh documentary “What Is a Woman?” and the most interesting part to me what the dialog with Jordan Peterson. Petersons’s perspective was refreshing in its clarity compared the convoluted word games of other interviewees and closely matches my own thoughts on the matter. Put simply, gender identity is a blanket term for multiple personality traits, such as conscientiousness and agreeableness, that generally corelate with sex differences. As best as I can tell, no change of meaning occurs by saying that a trans woman is an effeminate man or that a trans man is a masculine woman.

Well, besides ignoring their entire self-concepts, anyway.

And before you dismiss that self-concept as mental illness, well, the fact that being trans is no longer considered a mental illness aside, even when it was in the DSM-III and DSM-IV, the default treatment was still to just to make sure that transitioning is what they really want and letting that transition happen if it was. And this wasn't because of some transgender or Cultural Marxist conspiracy; it's because, if the person in question actually is trans, allowing said transition to go as far as the person wants it to go is the only thing that actually helps.

You are full of shit. Is my "red" your red? No woman can be absolutely sure of another woman's inner experiences; ditto for men. What modern science does have, however, is neurological evidence that brains of transgender females are more similar to those of biological women than they are to biological men; similar results hold for transgender males. Brains can be gendered even if bodies cannot, at least fully.

As a transgender female, I want to be addressed with feminine pronouns. If an associate does not do that, I will give them shitty reviews, no tips and may even respond to them in a somewhat loud, passively aggressive voice, "You have an amazing day!"

I also want to use the woman's restroom when the need calls for such, and when I am in a tee, skirt and sandals, that's where I go. I have even had biological women hold the door open for me.

As for Matt Walsh, he can go and fuck himself; we shall never yield!

I've yet to encounter anyone who told me to refer to them with a particular pronoun.

When I was a young bar-hopper and a big part of the gay club scene, I automatically referred to drag queens and transgender women I met as she. It never occurred to me to not refer to them as she.

Being fairly old school when it comes to work stuff, I now have to stop and think about how I have to write the greeting in a letter. Years ago I switched from Miss or Mrs. to Ms. to be safe. Now I don't know what the heck to do. I don't like opening a letter with someone's first name when it is someone I have never met or spoken with...I am aware it's a thing...I am just trying to be polite. I'm thinking 'Hey You' is a bit too casual.

I am only acquainted with one person IRL who is pretty adamant about their pronouns.

Where I work they (nearly always) refer to me with feminine pronouns. Outside of work it happens on occasion but most of the time it does not. I either ignore it, respond with a genuine look of surprise or make a sarcastic comment if they piss me off. I never give them the satisfaction of "correcting" them; on a few occasions, a subtle email to the legal department hinting at a possible civil rights complaint is enough to cool my jets.

I think I had to do it once or twice, back when I was still in my writing group. We started each meeting by giving brief introductions giving our names, what we write, and a few times, there was one Non-binary person who explained that they preferred to be called “they.” So, when my turn came around, I decided I’d use “motherfucker” as my pronoun. The NB in the group laughed a bit at that.

Did they laugh, like it was identifying as an attack helicopter?
