Remember when Windows was a purchased product, and you took it out the door of the store and installed it on your computer? Now, it's a "service". If I wasn't so old and decrepit, I'd go to a Linux system and eschew Windows entirely. Bunch of crooks.

I remember when if you wanted to buy the OEM version of Windows XP, the local computer shop would include a case screw with the software to satisfy the "sold with hardware" clause in the Microsoft license.

Laptop has been dropped off at computer repair shop, font issue is apparently fixed, and the repairman is adding more RAM to it in hopes that it speeds up. If it works, I should probably include that as a mod to do on my next laptop in addition to increasing the hard drive.

edit: Laptop is back, fonts are back to normal, and apparently, the RAM needed is coming tomorrow.

Did the final walkthrough on our new home today and closing on it tomorrow morning. We should be able to move right in.

Got the RAM upgrade for my laptop. It remains to be seen whether or not this means it actually runs faster, since I only just got it back. Apparently, it started up quickly, but I wasn't in the store for that. I'll file this under "important, if true" for now. If I don't get any incidents where it goes to 100% disk and freezes up, it was probably a success.

I haven't even thought about voting. I'll probably vote on election day. I've been too busy to secure a ballot in advance.

I live in "Commiefornia".   Every time I encounter that sobriquet I bust the poster's chops (including one brother, and a son who is in the USAF), basically telling them that they obviously don't know what Communism is, and that they should go educate themselves about public education, roads, and police and fire fighting services. I'm ignorant about a lot of things, but this is basic civics.
