Goodbye all
May 19, 2023 at 9:22 am
I've asked Valkyrie to remove my account. I have posted my last post here.
To be claimed to be on a crusade for simply challenging ideas and provoking thoughts which I assumed (wrongly) was the point of this forums existence is something I no longer will choose to be a part of. I appreciate those that have participated respectfully over the years. It's become unfortunately apparent to me that the accepted goal of the forum is to mock and vilify religion and theists, which is unfortunate. I wish you all the best.
God bless.

You are free to be as challenging as you want, and everyone else is as free to challenge you back. Sorry it got too uncomfortable for you though. I certainly wouldn't want all the blowback I could expect if I went to a Christian or Muslim forum to present them with challening ideas and provoking thoughts. I suspect I might get the impression that the purpose of those forums is to mock and vilify secularism and atheists.
Although from what I hear, almost all of them would ban me before I was ready to retreat.
Anyway, best of luck to you and yours.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Your thread topics were more proselytizing, less honest discussion. Sad to see a long-time member rage-quit. Enjoy your journeys.

If you give but cannot take it back then this is not the place for you.
It's a pity, because you have a good head on you and are genuinely a decent person.
