She fought the good fight. We got our money's worth. RIP.

She may give up her seat now.
Dianne Feinstein, unwilling to relinquish her grip on power - like RBG - has left democracy more vulnerable than it would have been if they had both been willing to retire. Power is a hell of a drug.
Democratic governeor Gavin Newsom will pick her replacement, so I'm not terrible worried.

I agree with LG's larger point. As a nation, we need to commit to developing younger leaders and fresh turnover, imo. Both major parties should be cultivating tomorrow's leaders. Instead, we have party elders refusing to turn over the reins of leadership.

Britain's iconic Sycamore Gap tree, set in a dip in the ancient Hadrian's Wall in an otherwise treeless landscape, was chopped down Thursday in what police have called "a deliberate act of vandalism." A 16-year-old male was arrested and authorities appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
The famous tree was hundreds of years old and was already a beloved local landmark when it featured in the 1991 movie "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," with Kevin Costner climbing atop the ruins of the ancient Roman wall next to it to deliver a few lines.
In 2016, it was voted "English Tree of the Year."
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
