Proposed Award - Kook of the Month
December 21, 2011 at 5:15 am
For your consideration -
Are you in favor or opposed to creating a new member award "Kook of the Month", an award of dubious distinction, awarded to the member deemed to have been most successful in defying all sense of logic and reason.
This award would be member-nominated and selected by a poll. Any member receiving nominations from at least two members is an eligible candidate.

Opposed
Atheist forums supposed to be secularized for theist members. The concept of "Kook of the Month" award promote typical hatred/discrimination towards theists. Or rather, I think the title of "Kook of the Month" too provocative - I'm all for "Proud to be Christian" or less provocative title.

They'd just see it as proof of their persecution and help their martyr complex.

Who cares if Kook of the Month is provocative to theists? It is surely up to them to prove that their views aren't kooky? Provocative doesn't come into it.
Furthermore, most theists that come on here know what likely conversation they are going to get with atheists, are prepared for the questioning and stick, and are suitably thick skinned.
Thin skinned theists know where the door is.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

for it, so long as it's in good taste and not called 'kook of the month' i think that 'worst post of the month would be better' face it, it's going to be a theist more often than not, but it would keep it fair.

How about, the 'worst misuse or misinterpretation of science' award?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
