RIP thread
RE: RIP thread
Dick Rutan, pilot who flew the first aircraft around the world without stopping or refueling which took 9 days, 3 minutes and 44 seconds in December of 1986.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Steve Albini, famed Record Producer Recording Engineer behind albums like Surfer Rosa, In Utero, and Ys, just died of a heart attack, at the age of 62.

And here he is explaining one of the few things he actually does as a producer recording engineer: Mic Placement.

Also, did I mention that, in addition to his music work, he's moonlit as Santa for decades? No, not as a guy in a Santa suit, I mean he worked with charities (specifically a 24-hour show at Second City, where his wife works) to raise money for poor families who wrote to Santa, and deliver them personally to the families who wrote him.

I'm guessing that getting eaten by a plastic shark was only terminal to her career...?

It wasn't the plastic shark but just the rope that dragged her down. A plastic shark came later in the movie. But she did ride a submarine in later Spielberg turkey of a movie called "1941" where she reprised her role.
