I love animated films, I just had no particular interest in this one.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Christmas Hallmark movies are coming to Netflix. Noticed it as I was browsing the "New & Popular" section.

I don't watch them, but one caught my attention for two reasons. First, I recognized an actress I swear is in all the Christmas Hallmark movies.

Lacey Chabert

Also, there's a fit guy in it. Dustin Milligan Can't find a picture, but the trailer showed a scene of his shirtless ripped torso.

The movie. Hot Frosty

Historian calls Gladiator2 'total Hollywood bullshit' for having sharks in the flooded colosseum scene — “I don’t think Romans knew what a shark was”

Ridley Scott when asked about sharks — "Dude, if you can build a Colosseum, you can flood it with fucking water. Are you joking? And to get a couple of sharks in a net from the sea ... Of course they can"

Quote:In the Roman age, sharks entered in many artistic representations of fishing, as in the two ancient mosaics in Pompei, where catsharks (Scyliorhinus spp.) are depicted among the coastal marine fauna. After the end of the Roman Empire naturalistic observations were replaced by renewed mysticism and superstition.

And the article calls this person 'a top historian'.

In a wider sense, it seems rather silly to point out historical inaccuracies in works that are labeled as historical fiction. Gladiator II isn't a biopic, ffs.

Going by Tarantino's mentality behind Joker 2, I would say that Ridley Scott is the real gladiator in this movie fighting against historians.

It's not that I take the side of this historian but sharks in the Colosseum are just ridiculous: how would they transport sharks to the Colosseum and keep them alive? How would they transport the seawater?

It would have been more plausible and entertaining if he brought samurais to the Colosseum.

The Romans were dab hands at engineering:

1. The Colosseum is just a little more than 20 miles from the harbor at Ostia. I imagine that building some sort of waterproof tank to transport sharks over this relatively short distance wouldn’t be terribly difficult.

2. Flooding the Colosseum with sea water wouldn’t be necessary - there are several species of shark notably bull sharks) that actually thrive in fresh water. Even the ones that don’t can survive in it for anywhere from a few hour to a few days.

3. The movie takes place in the 3rd century. Samurai warriors only date from the 12th.

But again, it’s not meant to be a documentary.

There are also murals depicting sea battles in the colosseum. Whether they're accurate representations of actual events or flights of fancy is debatable.

New Star Wars sequel trilogy is coming, episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga.

Lucasfilm has closed a deal with Simon Kinberg to develop a trilogy of Star Wars films. Kinberg will write the trio, and produce them with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy.
