The Absurd GOP
RE: The Absurd GOP
Quote: believe workplaces should be about productivity, not politics.
Not being a douchebag at work is not political and not putting up with dicks is not political either.

Quote:No; I abandoned the woke ideology when I realized it was a political tool for some and an anti-scientific and anti-reason cult for others.
So when you embraced rightwing delusions and came to a conclusion that's the absolute opposite of reality. (Spoilers there is no such thing as "woke ideology" it's a boogie man that exist nowhere but in your head)

It's really not that hard; if someone at work says something you don't like, ignore it.

It should be noted that asking the speaker to "not to make those comments or jokes around them" is not "ignoring it", which means that you're actually advising two contradictory responses.
That's a weird conclusion to make.

My personal belief is to just ignore it; if you cant do that, there are professional steps you can take to ensure that you are not harassed or otherwise made to feel uncomfortable at work, and if the coworker intentionally violates those terms they should be immediately fired and you have a clear line of steps taken to ensure you were in the right.

Accepting that some people cant just ignore it is not contradicting that my advice should be to ignore it.

Quote:Great. So how are you going to fire the harassers and defend that in an unemployment court if the company doesn't itself have rules against that harassment?

It's not the speech that is harassment but the behavior.

Quote:Correct.

If they harass you - i.e. continue to say these things around you after you have explicitly told them not to - you are in the right to complain to your boss for harassment. If it was an intentional "trolling" harassment, they should be fired on the spot without further question.
Nah they are allowed to report anything

Quote:Otherwise, you are free to ignore it.
Nope your free to report it

Quote:Coworkers said *plenty* of things I found offensive over the years, but I just ignored them, did my job, went home and ate my dinner. It's not hard, it really isn't.
So you were willing to be shat on so other people should be too? . Know what else isn't hard not engaging in hate speech.

Nah they can report it . Nobody has to ignore it or put up with it period.

Both are harassment.

Forgive my disagreement, but it seems clear that restrictions against thing like racist jokes and bigoted speech seem like impositions to TWM. Why else would he be arguing so vigorously against them?

It's interesting your head goes straight to racist jokes, when the reality is that "HR" has been employed by a variety of individuals and occasionally small moments to engage in acts of revenge against co-workers, intimidate and harass co-workers, and allowed a social class of non-productive cretins to exploit actual suffering in minority communities for their own gain, their own grift.

But sure, the racist jokes being taken away also sucks.

So it's not about immigrants, it's not about groceries, it's not about bribes, it's not about kids, and it's not about flags.  It's sounding more and more like your jokes cost a company money so they shitcanned your ass.

In regards to men entering women's bathrooms, it is specifically the fact that men do not belong in women's bathrooms.

Sure; and the boss should then tell you and the other party not to engage in this dialogue around each other, and everyone moves on with their life.

So more Conservative fantasyland.
