Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Sorry chip ...the early xtians WERE illiterate and burned libraries and books that were not "sanctified by their narrow little god.
Xtians did hold back science ...please don't get me started on the witch hunts and Inquisition. Maths and science WERE forwarded in places like Muslim Spain...not xtian Europe, as far as I understand without going to depth about it. The Plagues mostly affected xtian Europe as I understand it... their standards of hygiene were very low. Xtianity has always seen science as a threat to it's continuance..as if science can not only FIND this godhead but also supply it's phone/ mail/email addresses and so rendering the 'church' redundant. The one thing that was feared by the information held in the libraries of antiquity....which is why they were burned by xtian zealots. Yes I just found out myself as well. Still looks like an odd word to me, but it is valid.

KichigaiNeko Wrote:Xtians did hold back science ...please don't get me started on the witch hunts and Inquisition. the Inquisition was not about science. that was purely religion vs relition and some politics involved. KichigaiNeko Wrote:The Plagues mostly affected xtian Europe as I understand it... their standards of hygiene were very low. no it affected everyone in europe the same. they all had the same hygiene standards reguardless of religion. KichigaiNeko Wrote:Xtianity has always seen science as a threat to it's continuance..as if science can not only FIND this godhead but also supply it's phone/ mail/email addresses and so rendering the 'church' redundant. no, christians always helped science. science was funded by the church in the day. the only time they treated a scientific theory blasphemy was already mentioned on my last post. if you have more examples feel free to share.
