I expect that we'll see a dirty bomb or two before an exploding nuke.

Caution: Controversial Statement Ahead.

Since I've been old enough to pay attention, and reading back on the news before that time, I've seen nothing but antagonism, threats, attacks, terrorist attacks, etc., between Iran and Israel.

And, immediately, the world jumps in with peace talks, ceasefires, and negotiations.

Seems to happen every three-to- five years.

And yet the hatred, antagonism, and all the tension is still there, and heats up again sooner or later.

Perhaps the world should, this time, sit back and say, "go for it. We won't interfere. Winner takes all."

Perhaps, then, when the dust clears, the cycle won't repeat again.

Am I being naive??

The denizens of this region have been killing and enslaving, etc., each other even before recorded history. It's even in their "holy" books to kill others. There is no end to them.

I've long said sardonically that we should simply build a wall around the place and let them settle it. At any rate, with the exception of the Camp David Accords, my own country has been a negative influence on their relations, and I wish we'd quit trying to fix their emotional fuckuppery.

Peace will happen when either one side conquers the other, or when both sides agree that conflict is not worth it.

So far Trump has said that the war stopped but that it can start again someday or it could maybe start soon and that Iran and Israel are both very tired of fighting.

It's like when Hitler killed himself and President Harry Truman said, "Can the war start again? I guess someday it can; it could maybe start soon."

But seriously, every president other than Donald Trump has known when a war has ended and when a war has just taken a pause. He is so ignorant about both Iran and Israel to say that they're both exhausted, and they just won't fight anymore because they're both tired. Israel has fought longer wars and has used more resources in those wars than it used against Iran. Israel does not get tired of defending itself. Donald Trump was probably speaking for himself as both tired and exhausted, and that's why he's completely incapable of thinking about what happens next.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Maybe Trump could sell Mar-a-Lago and give money to Iran since it was solely his decision to bomb them, so it's his mess.

Quote:Iran Demands Compensation from U.S. for Bombing

An Iranian official said Washington must compensate Iran for damaging its facilities. The U.S. and Israel said recent strikes had severely damaged Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said Tehran will file a complaint with the United Nations over the damage to its nuclear facilities and asserted that the U.S. must provide compensation, in statements to Lebanese outlet Al-Mayadeen.

After the White House rejected a report downplaying the U.S. strikes' impact, new intelligence claims Iran's nuclear facilities have been destroyed, according to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

"If the Iranians chose to rebuild, they would have to rebuild all three facilities (Natanz, Fordow, Esfahan) entirely, which would likely take years to do," Gabbard wrote on her X account. Gabbard had previously assessed Iran was not pursuing a nuclear weapons' program.

Maybe they annihilate each other, but the cycle would repeat again all the same, and now with the explicit precedent of such an agreement.  There's a long list of actors who would very much like a world where they could keep whatever they could grab with no interference from a community of nations.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I've been guilty of cheering the players in that region on into converting it to a giant, unified, radio-active parking lot. I really wish the so-called holy land didn't exist. There are places those people could go where they could live civilized, enlightened lives. Instead, they insist on fighting over a barren wasteland like ignorant savages. Yes, the situation is very frustrating. Its perfectly understandable to harbor a secret wish that they just wipe each other out and be done with it. Hell, I'm 66 years old and this stupid shit has been going on my entire fucking life.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

So long as they continue to believe in the concept of "Holy Land" the place will remain a bloodbath. Abandon the BS and the causus belli evaporates.
Of course that process will take generations.
This is why the settler's claims of "Just wanting to bring our families up in peace" always ring hollow. If they wanted to live in peace they'd put as much distance between their kids and that hellhole as possible.
