OK, so the directors of these companies have the choice to
1) get approval for a multi-billion dollar deal and make huge profits, or
2) keep a not-very-popular comedian on the air.
And you think that 2) is the wise business choice.
The FCC shouldn't have been involved in this. I have no problem with hirings or firings for business reasons sans government intimidation against the spirit of the First Amendment.

Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani announced Monday that he is cancelling a televised town hall with WABC News planned for Sept. 25 in the wake of the network suspending comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show last week, amNewYork first learned.
“ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel off the air after the FCC sought to pressure them,” Mamdani said on Monday. “The message that it sends to each and every American across this country is a message the First Amendment is no longer a right that can be counted on, but rather that it is government which will determine what should and should not be discussed, what can and cannot be spoken.
