RE: What's everyone up to right now?

A few years ago, I discovered a little one-panel cartoon by William Steig called “People are no Damn Good”. I found out that it had been on a lot of things back in the day, but these days, all we have of it are either antiques or prints that cost hundreds of dollars just for something I could just do on my home computer with some ingenuity.
A few weeks ago, I rediscovered it through
an Etsy listing that included a good enough photo of a cuff link with it that I thought: if I could find someone willing to do so through AliExpress, I could just commission one. $10 and two weeks later, I got a badge that included what I assume is probably a perfect representation of that exact photo, complete with the shading of the light on the cuff link, represented as a pointillist mess that ended up negating the good job they did on the overall image. Attempts at cleaning up the original image were not successful.
Later, I discovered an eBay listing for a single cuff link for about $26, and the seller offered it to me for $23 because I was the only one watching it. I ordered it, and it arrived today.
(Original cuff link on the left, failed badge on the right):
I’ve taken more pictures, and through a judicious use of “remove specific color from image” tools and retouching tools on my iPad, I got something clean. Maybe I can have another go at it.
