Republican Congressman Mark Alford says that Americans need to sacrifice themselves by putting up with higher gas prices to support Trump’s war with Iran.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

And what sacrifices Rep. Alford making? Is he taking a cut in the pay that comes from taxpayers? Paying for his own petrol instead of having taxpayers do it? Giving up his Capitol office that’s funded by taxpayers? What a hypocritical cunt.

The longer this goes on, the farther Republican prospects in November fall. Selling sacrifice to the electorate is horribly difficult -- just ask Jimmy Carter.
It wasn’t always. But that was then, this is now.

Latest polls show public approval for the war is hovering around 25%.

Pound to a penny that 25% represents people who have never seen a war up close and personal.

I'm surprised the number isn't higher.
