A Tennessee appeals court has overturned the voluntary manslaughter conviction of a man who shot and killed a Black trans woman. The court ruled that a jury should have been allowed to hear evidence about her sex assigned at birth as part of his self-defence claim.

Is this one of those things where he tried to fuck her and then his own shame compelled him to kill her?

I see it like this: if it matters whether he killed a man or a woman, as opposed to a human being, then it sets the precedent that we can kill all the men we want.

Gestapo on the streets.
Public executions.
Witch burning next?
Looks like it might be time for a rebellion.
And, IF he doesn't cheat in the mid-terms, does anyone truly believe he'll accept the results if he loses?

This is the classic example of the Chinese curse of 'May you live in interesting times'. We are definitely living in interesting times.
I feel like I'm living in a dystopian novel, waiting to see what happens next in the twilight of my life. I can definitely see a scenario where I meet my end as a rioter on the street. I don't want that to happen but it is interesting. I only know that I am going to die in the relatively near future and that going out in a blaze of glory has its appeal.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Trump tells MAGA supporters "I could say the stupidest things and you'd clap."
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, 93, has filed paperwork to seek reelection in 2028. If reelected, he would be 101 when his six-year term ends in January 2035.
Grassley was first elected to the U.S. House in 1974 and to the Senate in 1980.
