You should like him, he's a fellow Muslim!

None are my fellows, least of which who live on the other side of the world. But to be honest, many people in Turkey used to think that he was indeed a muslim, while it's common knowledge that he's not. It's just that name of his...Really, he even went to Egypt and appeared to be friendly to the moslems worldwide. I personally think that no politician has ever been sincere, and Obama is no exception to it. Üze Tengri basmasar, asra Yir telinmeser, Türük bodun ilingin törüngin kim artatı udaçı erti? I said that I do not consider the moslems here on our doorsteps to be my fellows, let alone to consider some guy in America who has a moslem name as my fellow. Obama has a Muslim name because his father was formerly a Muslim. Both of his parents were atheists for the bulk of Obama's life. In any way, his name did garner him some fame in the moslem world even before he was elected. I've heard that some peasants in Erzurum slaughtered some sheep in his honour when they learned that he got elected, something that people don't do for everyone. In short, people really did expect much from him, however, what did they really get? Üze Tengri basmasar, asra Yir telinmeser, Türük bodun ilingin törüngin kim artatı udaçı erti? That's too bad. However, it suggests ignorance of American politics more than it suggests that the man has done a bad job in any way. It's easy to get caught up in the "leadership" aspect of his role when you are used to "dictatorship" or is the norm around you. Here, some, certainly not all, of us know that being a U.S. President does not mean that everything goes your way. In fact, this man has had to butt heads with the rest of our government on numerous occasions. He can't just will a better world into existence, but I genuinely believe he hopes for one and will do his best while in office. RE: Obama is one cool Mo'Fo!

The US government is almost inert. The division of powers was supposed to support stability. It has done that in spades. Between the structural aspects which work against change in this country there is also the mindset of so many who regard politics as a sporting event. They care much more about how successful the two parties appear to be than they do about how the country and its people do. We are so screwed. |
