Being in debt obviously doesn't matter if we can apparently just borrow endlessly and never pay back. Maybe our plan is to conquer China using the money they've lent, then we owe them jack shit.

Then they need to stop flip-flopping with their message.

I don't give them that much credit Undecided
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

Yeah because China doesn't have the "destroy the world" button like every other first world country... oh wait.
Well there goes that idea.

We can destroy them first.

... Forgetting the morale implications you do understand that if we pushed the button they would detect nukes coming towards them right? What do you think they would do in that situation?

Yeah, but all their missles are made in China. They'd fall apart over the ocean.Smile

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Our missile guidance systems are increasingly being made in China. Thinking No way that could ever go wrong. . .

This links to wikipedia, so trust it at your own discretion, but if it's true, it's horrifying. There is no way we need that huge of a military.

RE: US response to China "Threat"
Actually our missile guidance systems are made here in the US, China lacks the manufacturing capabilities to manufacture microchips efficiently and cheaply at the level the US military needs.

Our military is a runaway train of expenditure and political power. The funny thing is, to say anything bad about it suddenly invokes the "YOU DON'T SUPPORT DEH TROOPS" rednecks...and yet in truth? The average Army soldier uses equipment that is largely outdated. The M4 carbine? The M16 assault rifle? Outclassed pretty much by every fucking assault rifle in existence in every way. Why do they keep purchasing them? Because Armalite has a sweet deal set up with the US military and a bunch of their execs have top generals in their pockets. The Interceptor Armor they're developing? Little better than kevlar. The helmets? Incapable of stopping even a .223 rifle round. The average foot soldier does not benefit at all from increased spending. If anything, when the military is forced to trim its budget, it stops buying the overpriced, ridiculously-high-maintenance-cost stuff that will NEVER be used, and tends to focus more on the foot soldiers and their combat effectiveness. Right now we're seeing the US military stuck in pork-mode and nobody's made any effort whatsoever to fix it.

There are only three things we need to invest in; foot soldiers, naval power, and missile defense systems. Nothing else. All the "new jets" and shit are NOT necessary. At all. US military tech is 30 years ahead of China's. The last fucking thing we need is to get involved in an arms race with them.
