What a presumption of the christian faith. I don't think you could find one believer that was positive and wholly sure of his belief and faith. You couldn't, they would be liars. We all struggle and can always contend with the opposite of faith and even reason, we all do it. Most of who we are and how were brought up is based on missed impulses and mimetic desire. I think it comes down to curiosity and what you find because of it but it is just an emotion as well. I think you should rule it out because you think you have to stop thinking and living life, it just comes down to how curious you are about what really is true.

Ofcourse, they wouldn't be wholly sure. They still have brains, don't they? Whatever rationality is left within them cries out against the irrational and contradictory dogma they have been taught. That doesn't change what your god asks of them.

Its like watching a dying fire. Whatever embers of intelligence that are left flare out once in a while as doubt and curiosity - little flashes of light trying to see and understand the actual reality beyond the blinders of faith. But soon enough, this momentary flame is put out by the dogmatic blanket of faith you fundies cloak yourself in do proudly - deceiving yourself that you have found the truth whilst robbing yourself of your only means of finding it.

I think atheism is the vulgar quest for truth but i understand your reasoning and rationality. But after all that, i still see it as peer pressure and subjective freedom, and i think about how is it even different, how is any of different. Our lives still seem to conform in the same way. I don't see how they don't were so different all of us yet so similar. I'm writing up ideas about what would be the next evolutionary step for humans because i find it interesting and unique. I love stories that make you think and just kinda shake everything up, even if their not realistic(Matrix, i love the Matrix), they still hold what we are all, do you know what that is?

As a generalisation,I agree. At the Catholic school I attended ,I was taught only a fool never questions his faith.


However,it seems true enough of most of the apologists we get here, especially the young earth creationist loons. Those people repeatedly demonstrate an incapacity or unwillingness to muster an independent thought.

Atheism is only the realization that we cannot only rely on books written 2000 years ago by goat herders and the "supposed" authority of ancients for our answers. We must look for truth in all directions and drop any overly unsupported views while investigating views which have supported evidence(Science and Philosophy for me not including theology). If the bible and other pure assumptions are the only thing you are seeking you ARE being deceived.

I was just proposing the idea as an opinion of what i believed to be one of the most influential reasons in being an atheist, it might not be true but thats why i just used opinion and believed, if true its vulgar.

Exactly, and you trust way too much that your thoughts, feelings, and the bible is telling you EXACTLY what you want to know. It's called indoctrination. There are so many other things you could attribute these things to but you decide to attribute them to "God". It could just be a reaction when you think it's "God" for one and it most likely is. When you get a feeling of a presence why do you attribute it to "God" and not something else like the wind or Thor? For what reason you assume this stupidity is beyond me. I trust when I get a feeling of something that it means something and I usually have a pretty good idea but I don't always assume it's God or something beyond my understanding. This is the entire point.
