if the atheist doesn't like religion in school then they are free to build their own, create their own curriculum, reruit their own teachers and students.

The atheist is free to show the world that their system is the better one by NOT forcing their ways upon those who have rejected it but be educating their students in their own schools on their own dime.

But I doubt that would ever happen as atheists love the educational welfare they receive via the public school system.

keep in mind that the rules of equal opportunity, etc. would still apply to them

Most incorrect, inflamatory post ever. It's funny how you talk about others being interloerant. Do you have any mirrors in your house? If you do, take a look at one, and you'll find the face of true intolerance staring back at you.

secularism has not worked. time to get back to christianity in schools. I do realize that other religions exist but they are not true and lead people to sin and destruction thus they can be outlawed from the public school system.

Ahh, the good ole days. Racially segregated schools (BTW people used the Bible to support the practice of segregation). Academic tracking. Girls studying hard to be house servants and baby factories who will be completely dependent on and subservient to their husbands. Prejudice against people of other religions, races, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexual preference (and the list goes on). Public humiliation of people with disabilities both physical, mental, and learning disabilities such as dyslexia. Archaic teaching methods. Bullying as an accepted practice to "toughen" people up. I could go on about some of the ignorant things that were taught in the classroom (things like Africans were some sort of less intelligent sub race of humans) but that would take up too much time.

Ahh, the good ole days. We should go back to them.....not.
I have studied the Bible and the theology behind Christianity for many years. I have been to many churches. I have walked the depth and the breadth of the religion and, as a result of this, I have a lot of bullshit to scrape off the bottom of my shoes. ~Ziploc Surprise

How is it inflamatory? I did not say they could not practice their beliefs, I just limited it from being part of the educational process. Oh wait, when I do it is isintolerant but when the atheist and secular [eople do it ist is for the public good. Sounds like a double standard to me.

You would be wrong. Just this morning I read another story about a female teacher having sex with a young student. That isn't okay by religious standards. Secularism fails its students, theirparents and society.

Quote:Religion does not belong in education

Yes it does or people are lead astray into lies, deceit and anarchy. Look at all the teachers caught for doing immoral acts, not just sex with students but lying, cheating, flasifying records, over-reactions by school officials and the list goes on.

If there is any place christianity belongs it is education.

I have no problem with the segregation. African Americans do because they want everyone just like them--lost, blind and stumbling in the dark.
African Americans do not make up 100% of the public thus the needs of the Whites need to be met by public schools. it is unfair and wrong to force a black man's presence upon those who do not want it.

if the African American doesn't like whites in school then they are free to build their own, create their own curriculum, reruit their own teachers and students.

I hope this helps you understand how crazy you are.

...So? What does that prove? Again, it's just ONE person. Religious people have done much worse things.

Is this a fucking joke..? It's the exact opposite. Religion leads to lies and delusions. But I guess that's what you want people to be taught.

I'm sure this also applies to many religious teachers. Religion doesn't make people moral.

Let's PRETEND that your accusations toward these teachers are true for all non-religious teachers. Honestly, would it be better to have students taught to hate everyone who is not part of their religion? Because that is exactly what would happen if religion took over education. It doesn't seem much better.

This is not a failure of secular morals or ethics. This is a failure of individual morals and ethics.

I hate the term "African American". You're either African or you are American, and quite often those who would be given the label "African American" don't even have family or ancestors in Africa at all.

Just call these people what they are, black.

You sound like my fiance, haha. I realize not all Africans are black and not all blacks are of African decent, either. I was utilizing it for the sake of the post.
