Trying to see the "positive" of Christianity.

Trying to see the "positive" of Christianity.
So God is all loving in Christianity. He sends his son - so that those whom love the light, will be saved.

Naturally, there should be a love towards the beauty of God. If we place our trust in Jesus and his sacrifice, we will live as repentant servants. This will make us humble towards God and naturally incline to good actions.

The holy spirit will guide the faithful and all those whom are inclined towards the light.

What I'm asking, is it really accurate to say, those whom love the light, will all be guided to Christianity?

Is it accurate to say, all Christians have been guided by the holy spirit, while non-Christians love the darkness over the light?

Do Christians here really believe this? Or I am misunderstanding?

I can't speak for others but as a child I used to subscribe to Catholicism which is a variation of Christianity and what I was taught during that time gave me that impression, yes.

That is certainly seems to be what a lot of Christians believe. However,so far I've yet to see any credible evidence supporting either claim. From my observation, the precise opposite is as often the case as not.

The chasm between what xtians claim they believe and the way they behave tells me that most of them are lying shits anyway.

No. God offer Agape and to those who accept His Agape His love will be found to be boundless. (I did a whole thread on this discussing in detail, if you want a link)

Depends on what you mean about 'the light.'

Quote:Naturally, there should be a love towards the beauty of God. If we place our trust in Jesus and his sacrifice, we will live as repentant servants. More or less.

They will be drawn to God, Being drawn to Christianity depends on our ablity to spread the good news.

Again depending what what you mean by 'light' but by biblical terms yes.

One form of this or another.

No, you're not misunderstanding. Christians are misunderstanding their own holy book. There is a positiveness to the average naive understanding of the Christian bible. They believe God to be all loving and that they should treat their neighbor with love, kindness, and to forgive. Luckily, they don't read the book they claim to follow. Christianity is actually a horrible religion, if read correctly, all the "old testament" laws would still be in effect. According to Yahweh (who can suck my circumcised dick for all I care), an innocent woman must marry her rapist and never divorce, disorderly children must be stoned to death, women should keep their mouth shut and dress modestly, and baby boys must have their penises mutilated.

Contradiction.

How is getting to be god/sitting at the right hand of god a sacrifice?

Quote:Is it accurate to say, all Christians have been guided by the holy spirit, while non-Christians love the darkness over the light?
When you're an omnipresent god, its implied even darkness is still light to him.
Quote:Psalm 139:12 - Yea, the darkness hides not from you; but the night shines as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to you.
How can one be separate from, lead astray from, guided to, something that is... everywhere?

A pile of nonsense with no real silver lining not worth anyone's time? Yes, because I once did.

I think you're taking it too literally. The only way I can "see" the positive in Christianity is to read the bible generously and intelligently. In other words, not literally. When Jesus says he is the way, he doesn't mean you have to suck his ball to get right with God. He means the "I" universally. To follow Jesus is to follow his example by finding God within. No after life, no payoff for anything. Just get it and enjoy the view.

Personally I have no more use for the bible than I do for any other wisdom book. Hell there is even an Alan Watts book that will probably get you a better view with a lot less excess verbiage. Or just get what there is to get and then get on with it. Leave all the boats behind. We're there man.

If you read the Bible and take the good stuff from there (don't kill, don't steal, love your neighbour, help the poor etc.) that can be viewed as positive Christianity. But once you get to the part where you start to believe in anti-gay, anti-abortion and so on...thing start to get negative.
