I know where this thread is going. You don't know what good is, only God does. What you think is bad, is good when God does it. However, if you do it then it's still bad and you're going to hell. Let me just point you to the Greek word that makes all this perfectly logical, unlike logic as you understand it because you haven't been saved. Christians - 1 Atheists - 0

Quote:I defy any believer OF ANY RELIGION to name me one bad thing god has allowed that you would be willing to hold him to account for. No religion is homogeneous. I have never come across a consensus on any given moral issue. One example: A great many Jews hold God responsible for the Holocaust. The argument is that in doing so,God broke the Abrahamic covenant. Do be careful when making sweeping statements, there's a good chap; makes you look like a bit of a dill This position is eloquently examined in the powerful teleplay 'God on Trial' Quote:God on Trial is a 2008 BBC/WGBH Boston television play written by Frank Cottrell Boyce, starring Antony Sher, Rupert Graves and Jack Shepherd. The play takes place in Auschwitz during World War II. The Jewish prisoners put God on trial in absentia for abandoning the Jewish people. The question is if God has broken his covenant with the Jewish people by allowing the Nazis to commit genocide.[1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_on_Trial RE: Acountability, never got a good answer to this.

News to me Ppl want to go into what constitutes evil in biblical texts, ignoring the fact that the people that wrote the book were writing about a good and just god. The stance seems bizarre to me. If you want to disagree with them and their exposition of that that's great, but then you shouldn't pretend that you're addressing Judeo-Christianity or the Judeo-Christian God. If you want proof here is no good god they know about, it comes from their own words. All religious types have individual definitions of what god is or what it does, as such there can be no divine revelation or there would be consensus. Or is it that one Christian will lie about his knowledge of what other Christians do or say, because they have no interest in any measurable truth. RE: Acountability, never got a good answer to this.

You obviously didn't catch my query the first time, I mean that or you were being blatently rude but I just can't comprehend someone as polite and well mannered as you would do *that*... even if my post was above one you chose to answer. I'll repeat and clarify: What makes you say God is just? What evidence has steered you towards this conclusion? Referenced quote: "If we were truly god, who is just, we could see that justice, and our objection would be removed."

I'm so sorry Lord raphael I genuinely missed your post there. Glad you pointed it out for me.
The answer is: because that is what is literally said in the bible several times. Now I presume that you are one of the incredulous who my follow up above would apply to, so with minimal deduction you should have seen that I had in fact already answered you. "God was never good, but he was OURS!" You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis. RE: Acountability, never got a good answer to this.

I know what your answer is, I just want it to be clear to everyone reading that is infact your answer. Next question: Who do you think wrote the Bible, where is the evidence that they did and where did they get their information from?

Well that at least would explain why in your last few replies to me you ask a question that I've just answered. I think?? (July 14, 2012 at 4:19 pm)RaphielDrake Wrote: Next question: Who do you think wrote the Bible, where is the evidence that they did and where did they get their information from?Lots of people wrote the bible, after the verbal tradition had passed it down a few generations. The evidence of this can be found in good bookshops everywhere. They got their information from varied sources. Poets and songwriters from their imaginations, theologions from their ponderances on the subject. Christians and Jews use the blanket term "god inspired". There is the rabbinical tradition where a Rabbi's teaching has to be cross verified by two established Rabbi's before anything new is accepted as correct. The church fathers scrutinised the texts and came up with the canon. |
