This is my first post here as a member.

I am a Skeptic by nature. Absolutely and irrefutably, there is no god. I also do not show recognition by capitalizing the word "god".

You will find that there are few hard atheist here. This is probably because none of us is able to prove there is no God. I for one will be thrilled if you turn out to the first person in recorded history to prove the non existence of god(s).

I do not have to prove a negative. Whoever claims something to exist must show proof. My position is (no different than UFOs or ghosts) "Show me"

Whoever claims that something unproven "absolutely" and "irrefutably" does not exist, as you said earlier, has the burden of proof also.

Very ironic that you call yourself a skeptic.

Asserting "there is no god "is a positive claim,and attracts the burden of proof.

Actually there IS a difference between saying' "I don't believe, show me" and "there is no such thing as". The first is simply a statement about belief,no claims are made. The second is a truth claim about reality and attracts the burden of proof.

I'm very new here, and this seemed like the best trend to start posting

I DO believe in God. Or something, called God by convenience. As I believe in spirits, force and energy, I believe there's something greater than us out there. But I don't believe in the God created by Church, by Religion or by the Bible. I just believe there's something out there.

What I love about this thread, though, is that I'm from Brazil, and the Atheist community here is so arrogant (just as are the Theists) on the subject. They take their personal believe as proof, even though there's no empirical evidence. I'm very annoyed by Christians who believe in God because they "feel it in their hearts" and because "it's in the Bible". Just as I'm annoyed with Atheists who take it as concrete proof that there is no God, the absence of proof of Its existence.

Most of what I read here, though, was I don't believe, but people are open possibilities.

In the end, I think believing or not believing is merely a choice, as neither of us have proof either way

So much for a simple answer, huh?
