I would say that the true ones are even more hilarious
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I don't mind talking about my beliefs but wouldn't it be weird if I started a thread to talk about MY own beliefs? I think that is forbidden by the rules because it would be seen as an attempt to proselytize even though proselytizing is the last thing on my mind.
If you ask the questions, I would be more than happy to answer them. I don't think I'll get banned here the way they banned me in Christian Forums.
Nah, the admins are pretty laid back. Maybe if you did it in the philosophy section or something? I argued for god in the philosophy section not too long ago.
It's up to you though. I don't want to force you to do anything or if you don't feel comfortable with it that's fine. Maybe it'll come up one of these days more 'naturally' through discussion .

No, I didn't say that. I have ALWAYS said this: There is ABSOLUTELY NO evidence or rational justification for God. Zilch evidence for God, zilch for Allah.......
In other words you have pure faith and are not an evidentialist.

No, I can't go under philosophy because I don't know any philosophy and the terms frighten me. I wouldn't argue for God either cos it's a lost cause if one does. It's simple. God to me isn't a being. But we speak of him as a being the way the old miracle plays talked about attributes as people and so you have Honesty slapping Sloth etc. That's all there is to it. I have no great philosophical thesis on such a basic thought.

Ah, fair enough. Surely this simple thought though is what drives you to say things like "the Bible isn't reliable" (or something like that. I saw it in another thread).

I say the Bible isn't reliable because that's true. I got that from Bart Ehrman. I first borrowed Ehrman's book from my vicar who keeps a lot of books in the vestry and I just loved it.

As long as you're not advocating that we should beleve as you, and as long as you're not telling us about all of the consequences we will be receiving for our failure to follow your religion, you can speak of your beliefs all that you want. Just try to keep it descriptive and not prescriptive.

No, religion is culture so I wouldn't expect others to adopt MY culture. And there are no consequences whether you adopt one religion/culture or another. There is no heaven and no hell, no soul and no afterlife, no flying winged beings, etc. Come on, winged beings are what very young children believe in together with a belief in Santa Claus.

There must be something else that we're missing out here. I just don't see how your faith and knowledge work together to produce one coherent worldview.

Well then, feel free to talk about your beliefs.

I have a theory that "worldview" is a word Christian fundamentalists made up to give respectability to their beliefs. There's only one reality but they like to talk about this being the "atheistic worldview" and that being the "Christian worldview" as if there are different existences and it's up to you to decide which you want to choose. That's utter rubbish. There is only one true reality and the rest are bunkum.
