A WTF Moment...

A WTF Moment...
Today I had a HUGE "WTF Moment".

My daughter loves poetry/nursery rhymes, and I've taught her a lot of them. One of her favorites, especially since she just started school is:

"I don't wanna go to school no more more more. There's a big fat bully at the door door door. He'll hang ya by the collar, and make ya pay a dollar, I don't wanna go to school no more more more."

Cute, I know. Silly, absurd, perhaps even a little inappropriate, depending on the company.

Today, she got in the car after school, and informed me that a little boy in her class said that's not how it goes. She then recited for me the "correct version", that Jose so graciously taught her today:

"I don't wanna go to Mexico no more more more. There's a big fat priest at the door door door. He'll make you touch his rocket, and use you as a socket, I don't wanna go to Mexico no more more more."

I don't know whether to be amused, or enraged. My daughter has no idea what she's saying, of course, and thinks it's funny, and clever. My first reaction was to be appalled that this was coming out of my child's mouth, and then it was anger. It would've been hilarious if Min had said it, or anyone else but a child. Now I have to go talk to her teacher. I don't want Jose punished. He is just repeating what he's heard. I want someone to investigate where he learned this. It's an inappropriate thing for a child to hear, much less know by heart, and teach to the rest of the kindergarteners in his class.

Tell me, am I overreacting? I have a tendency to do that sometimes, but right now I am just pissed.

Your kids will hear far worse than that at school... it is just how kids are. It isn't something you are going to be able to stop.

Fucking A, frankiej! If only there was a homeschooling program that didn't have bible study, and one night a week at a worshit service as a requirement.

I know they're gonna hear fucked up shit, but in kindergarten? What the fuck?

I knew far worse at that age. Tongue

It doesn't surprise me that she heard it from a boy either. Little boys love saying dirty things even if they don't understand it... I don't know what it is that makes them like it, but they do.

The rhyme made me laugh... I'd give that kid a high five. I'd then sit down and explain why they shouldn't say that thing when an adult is about. Big Grin

I'd be upset/concerned too. I don't know what I would do, but a talk with your daughter's teacher is a good place to start.

Nah, no one likes a grass. Tongue

Getting a little boy in trouble does nobody any good.

I'm going to take a stand... for Jose!!!!!!

Not to get the kid in trouble, but that's some mighty suggestive language for a 5-6 year old. If he has any idea about what those lines actually mean... I'd frankly be worried about possible abuse...

As for where the boy learnt it, it was probably from an older kid. I know that was always my source of naughty phrases.

Catholic school, no doubt.

He probably hasn't been abused, it is just a silly song he learned. But on such matters, I'd prefer to err on the side of caution than simply ignoring it.
