None that are especially credible. If you try to just present the facts, you get labeled 'biased liberal media.' Because of that, news outlets that want to look non-partisan have to report on the Republican stories, even if the stories are stupid and transparent.

So from the information I got, the basis of the argument that the "media elite" is biased towards the left, is based on the fact that most journalists for big media outlets vote democratic.
So? Why not? Being a journalist doesn`t require you to not have an opinion, it requires you to not publish your opinion and to only present facts to the public. And if a far-right loon acuses a journalist to be biased on the basis that, that journalist does not see the world through the narrow minded eyesight of a fundamentalist loon - that is not an argument. Journalism to me is the presentation of facts, not opinions. But it would be foolish to ignore that there might be some megalomeniac morons on the left who broadcast their opinions. In german newsmedia, when reporting on the US, Bill O Reily and Keith Olberman are always given as examples for "journalists" who simply spread their opinion, and who on occasions dont take the thruth serious and think they can demand the resignation of political figures. In the end it isnt that bad to broadcast your opinion, as long as one underlines that it`s ones opinion, is not dishonest with facts and as long as objective journalism isnt pushed into the background. However, we have more 'media' than journalism and in media it's more about how you can spin, sensationalize and/or de emphasize those facts to fit your ideology.

And in that case - it depends on the level of education, of the general public - which form of press they would rather read or see.
I dont think they are so stupid to not "evolve"\learn out of mistakes.
I guess they will concentrate on getting the catholic\hispanic vote. (November 14, 2012 at 1:06 pm)The_Germans_are_coming Wrote: I dont think they are so stupid to not "evolve"\learn out of mistakes. Right now, they're trying to find a scapegoat. A lot of them are blaming Chris Cristie because of his praising Obama and the government's response to hurricane Sandy. Others are blaming the American people. Some are blaming Romney. Maybe this means they know something is wrong and they're trying to figure out what it is, but so far, they don't see the underlying issues with the Republican party right now.

I think the base and those who can for example spell or know that holding your hand over fire will hurt you, understand very well what their situation is.
They will probably have to let go, or at least less cuddle with their white voters. Well if they dont they are simply digging their own grave. |
