Science and religion
RE: Science and religion
Sorry for going back to this, guys....
(March 24, 2013 at 12:32 am)jstrodel Wrote: Read the history of the Christian church. Learn about the men who were missionaries and spread the church and built orphanages and soup kitchens and traveled to the ends of the earth. Read about the martyrs and monastics and the characters throughout history that have lived the authentic life. And then live the same way that they lived, with the same level of zeal and intensity. There is your proof. You will see the same things happen to you, like I have. You can feel your heart burn inside and see the shekinah glory and see the miracles and the power of the Holy Ghost. It is real.

All this just shows that there are a lot of people just like you, who let their delusions run their lives.
And if you're deluded enough, you become even more deluded.

It's because of the very real "human imagination" that atheists ask theists for some proof of their divine experiences... and, when these provide only some mental drivel, they're promptly dismissed as delusions.

Do not assume that we are not open to the subject, just because we jump to the deluded conclusion. It's just that no theist has provided any evidence that couldn't be generated by their minds.
And it becomes frustrating to have to point out how this kind of theistic argument is not valid, every time.

We are not interested in words... "words are wind". We are interested in evidence so we can judge it... each with their own bias, of course... but that's how the world moves on.

People feel/experience X and live according to X, is not the same as X exists.

Concerning martyrs, why would anyone have to "die for god"?
Isn't a god defined as immortal? Let him "die" and come back for himself.
People who sacrifice themselves for an entity which only manifests itself in people's minds... are probably not required on this Earth Tongue

Wow $1000 & $100 on offer and no one has even begun to make an attempt at claiming either. Is this a striking admission of defeat?

The James Randi Foundation is offering $1,000,000. No one willing to take them up on the offer? With a million bucks, you could offer that $100 challenge ten thousand times!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

What is it with some people not understanding that disproving anything is impossible? Did their mother take crack during pregnancy? Seriously...

Nothing can be proven false, because under different conditions the outcome may be different.

I'll pay $1,000 to the first person who shows documented and tested proof of any alleged miracle which is indisputably the work of the Christian God.

As I'm not allowed to post links, I should have mentioned the title of the manuscript. It's called 'The Final Freedoms'. Any Google search should find a link for downloading what may be a turning point in history.

What man has never confronted the need to confront his own error, accept correction and change his mind and conduct? Does not the whole nature of human existence demand as much? But for humanity to make progress, it is now necessary to question human nature itself. And it would appear that the only thing standing in the way of that progress is a false paradigm of faith that leads nowhere. This is the final frontier.

It is because Mr Infidel doesn't know formal logic but has no problem accusing people of being illogical. That is really sad because knowledge of the truth is the most important thing in the world. He thinks that repeating atheist propaganda over and over again is the same as reasoning.

If you want to know God. Sanctify yourself. Sanctify your mind. Stop putting up with atheist propaganda. Apply the same standard to atheism epistemologically that you apply to Christianity. Obviously this is the only way to be consist with atheist principles.

Quote:I think you're an honest yet utterly insane person if you're seeing and hearing god even though he's no more real than the tooth fairy. There are children the world over who can hold up a small coin as evidence of the tooth fairy's existence, and they've got more evidence for their fake friend than you have for yours.

No argument, just propaganda. Obviously this is false assertion. You are just repeating atheist propaganda. There are hundreds of thousands of books written on theology by people that have significant educational credentials. You didn't argue for your position, going from self evident statements to conclusions, you just repeated atheist propaganda.

Quote:If you can prove that miracles are possible to the James Randi Foundation, you'll have $1,001,000 in the bank. Since you know how to do real logic, you should have no problems collecting. Then you can offer even more money to random people on the internet to get them to believe in your imaginary friend.

I am considering it. That would take more than 15 minutes though. Perhaps I will submit something.

Do you consider the proposition "Human beings consider what it means to be a good person the most important question in life" to be "just words"? If something is not a biology textbook that tells you to be a doctor and make $200,000, do you think it is worthless?

Because God does not remove all the sin from the world until God comes back in the next age, meaning the evil in the world has a political manifestation and that is threatening to Christians.

Do you realize that if God dealt with all the evil in the world, necessarily the age would cease to be? Why are you so presumptuous to think that you can tell God when God should end the world.
