RE: Ex-"New Atheist", Now Christian
Love, Kay's speed bump applies to you too. Make a thread outside the intro area on a proper subforum, this one is for intros and welcomes. Wanna explain your experience of god? Good, make a thread elsewhere or I'll close this one.

Edited because I repeated LP

Love, We do welcome you and your alternative views here, but no one is allowed to go on the offensive in an introduction thread. Also, a person of your varied religious history should certainly understand and even expect a certain level of harassment for arriving on an atheistic website and sharing your theistic views.

You even stated in your opening post that you understood this concept. Undecided

These are shared experiences, I can point at something red and say "that's red that is!" love is a bit trickier but has physical effects on the body that can be measured by taking blood samples and studying the brain. Or you could ask someone if they have ever been in love. If they say yes then you can say. " it was like that"

Yes you can.

Please stop writing things like this on your introduction thread.

Its like bending over with a kick me sign on your back next to a policemen.

Open another thread elsewhere pretty please.

I can only explain it as a deep sense of knowing. How can you prove to another person how you perceive love or colour, for example? You cannot. All you can do is either trust me in what I write or simply put it down to irrational delusion; it's entirely up to you.

Since we have no evidence to trust in regarding your subjective experience, that option is difficult to accept since that is the fundamental reason we are atheists in the first place. You can't honestly believe that you are the first person ever to come here and tell us you know about god because of some deep, personal, subjective spiritual experience, can you?

And while the things you say do, indeed, sound like irrational delusions, it is entirely possible that you are of completely sound mind but tragically misinterpreted some event in your life that led you to believe things were something other than what they actually are.

Also, I would like to repeat what has already been said: Disagreeing with you is not attacking or bullying. Legitimate questions have been raised. All we are asking is that you answer these questions. We are here to discuss the issues you bring up. However, bald assertions, unsubstantiated claims and subjective experiences are not well looked upon here. Things like this may, in fact, attract a great deal of sarcasm and ridicule. I dare say that you will have a hard time finding another forum with the depth, intelligence and education represented here.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Don't say stupid shit and you won't get attacked.

No, I am making it very clear that I will not tolerate bullying. I could sense a few people starting to do this by making sarcastic and spiteful comments for no other reason than to entertain themselves and their "gang"; a sad little forum gang in which misguided individuals appear to stroke each other's fragile egos.

I am always more than happy to have a civilised discussion with anybody, but when a person (usually a spoiled, arrogant narcissist) starts to be obnoxious with me for no reason, I just minimise them and ignore them. All they want is attention and a reaction; drain them of their currency and they will eventually perish.

What would you like to have a civilized discussion about? Post it up.
(though I can;t make any promises about sarcasm..lol)
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Well, I did not want this forum to be placed in the "Introductions" forum, hence the reason why I placed it in the "Atheism" thread. Can we bypass "forum etiquette" and pretend that I have already made the introductions, and place this thread back in the "Atheism" thread? I wanted to answer all the questions that were asked of me.

Welcome to the forum! We were all once newbies here and most have an intro thread, why should you get a pass? You can start a new thread, quote from this thread's posts, and respond to them there.

Something tells me you wouldn't wait to form your belief about whether or not you were in love until after you'd gotten the results of any blood samples. We believe many things for which we have nbo evidence and act on many more beliefs of which we're usually not even aware. Very rarely do we bother to ask for evidence.

Even if we pride ourselves on acting rationally, what can we say about the rationality of acting rationally? Lovey is perfectly within his rights to form beliefs for which he has no evidence. In his defense, I would just say we all do whether or not we know it. There just isn't any point in urging them on anyone else. But I don't see him doing that yet, do you?

Personally I want to give him big time kudos for not claiming the bible as an item of evidence. Hell, I think I'll go rep him right now and pop his cherry.
