Jesus should be put back in the government!

RE: Jesus should be put back in the government!
Well, my holy spirit just debunked himself and got a real blistering headache as a result. What do I do? Tonight there's that bible on my bedside in need for some metaphorical allegorical interpretation to weed the literal crap from its pages.

You mean the bible was ment for reading? All this time I thought it was toilet paper. A very cheap and uncomfortable toilet paper filled with childrens fairytale stories in them.

You telling me people actually read and BELIEVE the shit in there? Oh Frodo's godConfusedhock:

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

How does a believer know that the Holy Spirit is guiding them and it's not just Satan in disguise?

Why do you think satan exists? Supposing he does, I'll play along, you couldn't. The "Devil" through examples like job and various scriptures has God using (or allowing as some argue) the devil to tempt man. I see it as a guide personally.

You mean you could not tell the Devil and the Holy Spirit apart?

Well I don't believe in Satan of course... I was just saying that how does a Christian who does believe in Satan and the Holy Spirit, expect to tell the two apart?

I don't know I'll ask one when I see them. and to clarify I couldn't tell the difference between the Devil's influence and God's influence. Both would act through the holy spirit like a translator.

I personally do not believe in neither the biblical god nor its devil since they both come from the same dubious source, namely the bible.

Regarding telling the holy spirit apart from the devil or demon spirits there are two ways that I know of from my ministry days.

One is a gift of the holy spirit himself called discerning of spirits.
1 Corinthians 12:10
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

The other asks you to test the spirits
1 John 4:1-3
1.Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2.Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3.And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Pretty simple eh?
There is nothing people will not maintain when they are slaves to superstition

Couldn't tell at all? Okay that's interesting hmm...

@ Chatpilot

Ok, let me get this straight...

The bible says that to tell the devil and God, or devil spirits and the holy spirit apart... you need to believe in (put your faith in?) God? Seems like we're back at square one again and kind of... circular reasoning if that's the case hm?

Yes, that is indeed an interesting point. Supernatural entities pose a real authentication problem. How do believers verify whether the voice in their head is really one or the other? Is there some protocol involving certificates and using encrypting techniques?

Hell no, all could be faked. We are dealing with mighty supernatural entities here that could delude us easily. You could think you were talking to the master of the universe and meanwhile selling your heart to the devil. This means a wise believer might want some verification. So how do we authenticate the bible as the word of the real god. On blind faith? Maybe we could use our innate morals to authenticate it.

Ah, that's right, I have done that already and found enough disturbing things (genocide, child slaughter, condoning of slavery, misogyny) to have more than reasonable doubt about its alleged author.

Ah. Good question. It essentially works this way.

If the voice tells them what they want to hear, it's "god."

If not, it's some demon.
