Oh well in that case I would speculate that influencing what language a nation speaks is an indicator of power, and that Britain, if you take into account size and population has accomplished this amazingly. No need to be so aggressive by the way calm down a bit. Is everyone on this forum suffering from roid rage?

I was fine until you decided what I was saying and thinking instead of actually reading what *I* wrote, which had nothing to do with any of the previous conversation you and Chuck had about who actually is more powerful.

The comment was actually meant for both you and Chuck mainly chuck I just happened to click on the reply icon next to your comment because it was the furthest to the bottom, and I thought you were basically insinuating the same as chuck, that the British empire wasn't that powerful I guess I was wrong.

It really wasn't, compared to the likes of Rome. We have short memories and are likely to be particularly impressed by things that we remember and feel comfortable being impressed by, this is why Britian seemed like she was so great.

She was a great power, was even for a while (about 75 years or so, between 1815 and 1890) the leading power, but she was never a superpower comparable to the US between 1945 and now.

And even the US was, and is no longer, as dominant as Rome for only about 10 years, between 1991 - 2001. Rome was continuously as dominant as we were at our very zenith for 450 years.

This is why communication skills are important.

As I said I was only arguing two points, Britain was powerful, and the list I drew up was what I thought a league table would look like if life was a game of civilization, which doesn't take into account as far as I'm aware (talking about CIV call to power) if the civilization had power for 1000 years or whatever it just counts for who is powerful now and who has won the most wars and invented the most. China and Rome were in the league table anyway which wasn't really meant to be taken as seriously as it was.

Seriously though, guys are so worried about this kind of thing there have been lots of studies about it. It turns out that the average size is the same just about everywhere except for one place.

Guys from India on average have smaller weenies.
