You were shown you are wrong. You claimed that nowhere in the bible does it say to kill disobedient children, and someone posted the verse from Deuteronomy showing that exact thing. Admit it and move on.

Quote: I've offered to explain those verses even though I know most will reject what I say.

Because you always come up with some extremely lame bullshit claim as to why a particular bible passage doesn't mean what it means.

But I'm interested, please lay on your bullshit interpretation of that passage and explain why it doesn't mean that unruly children should be killed. I'll start making popcorn.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

All this rationalisation of barbaric mentality reminds of 1984 for some reason... the catchphrase would probably be something like "violence is love".

Proof of claim?

Hm. Many Christians say the Bible is the word of God. The Bible says the word of God is true:

Psalm 119:160
Thy WORD IS TRUE from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

However, since the Bible wasn't assembled until after all the scriptures were written, there is no verse claming the Bible as a whole is the word of God. There are verses that say revealed scriptures are true, but they can't be reasonably expanded to include the whole Bible.

I'm going to have to come down on the side that the Bible doesn't say it's true.

I thought, surely this man isn't a Christian, I sure as hell have never heard this standpoint stated by a single Christian in my entire life! The more I talked to Drich, and JohnV, and GodsChild, the more I realized: They're sure as shit right. The Bible dOes say that, and as Christians they're perfectly justified in believing such misogynistic, racist, evil, punitive, condemnatory beliefs that they hold dear because: THEIR BIBLE TEACHES IT.
Note I didn't say they were justified in believing in the Bible. This understanding of god and his nature along with the contradictions to what I was taught about the all loving god I'd worshiped willingly my entire life--led me to believe the Bible itself was a crock of shit. After that, the blocks kept tumblin. Every piece of information I held to be truth based upon the Bible has been re-examined, RESEARCHED, and found to be false.

I suggest all Christians do the same. It literally breaks my heart to know you see life through such a limited and contradictory-to-your-nature- beliefs. Unless that is, you are fine with bashing babies' heads up against rocks and cutting peoples' hands off, killing people for their sexual orientation, and enslaving and raping people for your benefit..
Oh please, the vast majority of Christians hear about the flood very early on. If you didn't consider this in your years as a Christian, that's due to your own self-delusion. Christianity isn't hiding it.

Yes, they do - it's a story told to young children. Of course, what they're told has a decided spin towards rainbows and doves and god' grace and love, and away from uncounted drowning children.

I have had Christians describe the story as "God's beautiful promise to us" as if it weren't the story of the most horrific act of genocide ever committed.

Thankfully, it's just a story.

I wasn't referring to the flood in any of my references, but yeah. Thanks for yet another example of the malevolent intent f your god. I'm not quite sure how to take this comment, honestly. Are you saying that a child has the knowledge and level of comprehension of an adult to the point of reasoning the pros and cons of an indoctrinated belief taught by authority figures? For that matter, what is it within your adult mind that can justify an entire world full of people being drowned including born and unborn alike? Do you really think each and every one of them were beyond 'saving'? No, nevermind, I forgot: everyone from the old testament pretty much did go to hell, believers and non believers alike. Which then leads me to ask why you consider your god benevolent in any way for laying out a plan no one can follow anyways (god forbid I get my hair stuck in something and need to cut it!), then that god takes any and all chance of salvation away by drowning the people he created like this in the first place? Oh let's not play.. If you consider God all knowing enough to know for a fact all of those people in the flood were unrectifiable then surely he knew exactly what was going to happen with Adam and Eve. The whole Genesis story plays out like a malevolent flawed experiment where the origin of ghe possible choices allowed is with the crazy scientist who knows for a fact that themouse is of course going to eat the. heese but is able to throw his hands up in the air and be 'surprised' at the result, absolving himself of any and all responsibility for the system he put the mouse into in the first place.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

You have the same lack of reading comprehension as the others it may seem.

Yeah, and I pointed out how that is incorrect. The Greek word from Romans 1:20 is "AIDIOS", not aeonian. Feel free to keep denying that though and I'll keep laughing.

Damn, catfish. Your use of obscenities makes your claim that she's appealing to emotion rather weak. I'd even say it's a pot/kettle moment, but I doubt your abrasive attitude can comfortably concede this point.
