That is a good question, and one that if you can answer, will probably lead to a deeper understanding of your issue.

No actually that was a question for you. If you know that I'm saying one thing in order to make excuses for another thing, then surely you must have a pretty good idea of what that other thing is. Otherwise you're just making a baseless speculation.

I realize it was, but you should reflect on that yourself.

And no, it is not baseless speculation. I don't have to know why you make excuses(I do have my guesses) to know that you are making excuses. Refusal to accept reality is an excuse to cling to an irrational position.

So what is reality then? The things that I've said about women aren't generally true? If that's what you think then it's you who is out of touch with reality. I really wish people here would pull their heads out of their fucking asses and stop trying to be politically correct.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if I'd come here making negative generalizations about men.

I have to say I gotta agree with Kereli. Somehow we've gotten to this place where we are not allowed to criticize women because if you do you are a piece of shit. I think most of what Kereli said previously does embody women for the most part. I wouldn't go as far as to say that all women fall under those generalizations, but definitely a majority. As far as social relationships go, I don't trust women as far as I can throw a man.

So much fun out there, based on gender roles...

Uh, yes it is the problem. And could you give an example of the generalizations made towards you, I'm not sure what you mean.

Quote:The problem is the nature of my generalizations. They simply don't want to hear NEGATIVE generalizations about WOMEN. And that right there is the real issue. That's why they're arguing with me, not because I'm wrong, but because it makes them extremely uncomfortable to hear negative generalizations about women. That's all it is. Even the fact that I myself am a woman doesn't change anything, in fact it makes them even more uncomfortable.

No, you have made biased observations and come to faulty conclusions, that's what I have a problem with. I would be on your case if you said that all porn is bad, that all atheists love spinach and that all Somali men are rapists. The topic itself is actually irrelevant.

Quote:But I tell you what. I haven't had even 10% of the criticism that a man would get if he showed up here and said the things that I've said.

Wrong. This guy.

Quote:So, as much as Rahul has a very valid point about generalizations and stereotypes, it really isn't necessary, since no one is actually against generalizations or stereotypes (despite what they may say). What is really rattling cages is the fact that I'm making NEGATIVE generalizations about WOMEN. If I came here making negative generalizations about MEN, it would be a very different story.

Indeed, Rahul's opinion on stereotypes I can agree upon, to an extent. But your opinions aren't stereotypes, it's just disgust and hate towards women. Example: "All women have poor sense of direction and 3D, but are good at social networking." That's a stereotype. "All women suck because they're women" is a hasty generalization.

No need to wonder, that topic has been covered. It didn't sit well with most of the members.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I say criticize all you want, it isn't the thing about pointing out flaws in a woman (or anyone else for that matter), it's the ridiculousness of stating that every single woman on the earth is exactly the same and only negative assumptions can be made about her, because she's a woman. It's just as stupid claiming that every single man is a rapist just because he's a man.

Generalizations are typical of a skewed perception of reality. However, most of these generalizations are founded on true events. When it comes to gender and the political ideologies that stem from that topic. It is important to note that alot of times it is largely based on small situations rather than the whole picture. Most misandry and misogyny are usually based on early childhood development issues. Often times unresolved conflicts with the gender in question. With that said in modern times in the developed nations alot of these older civil rights movements and their leaders are find themselves becoming less and less relevant in todays modern world. With their identities in these groups they are often times resorting to anecdotal evidence and personal witness instead of the broader scope of things. Now does this apply to all civil cases no, however more I listen to various groups more I see this happening.

The consequences of these cases often time result in rights of another group being supressed or overlooked and due to the emotional charge of these topics the other voice is often times ignored for abritary reasons for the sake of following the said civil rights group and not truly breing objective. I know that is long winded but how it pertains to the OP is that to heal these misconceptions it will take education and time. Also, it will require meeting rational people of the affected group to change these misconceptions.
