And Hells come back to haunt me

RE: And Hells come back to haunt me
I don't believe in such a place called Hell, so I'm not worried about keeping out of it.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

I am in a bit of a Predicament, I read yesterday about the pascals wager and so I became a bit skeptic.

For the last year I have had problems about the 'Unforgivable Sin and Going to Hell' To rid myself of these problems I decided to read the Bible and see if I became an Atheist.

Honestly - I had never read the bible so the Unforgivable sin to me was one passage that I knew against the backdrop of all the ones I didn't know.

The way I think is that I need to read something for myself - Taking peoples word that I didn't commit it or using scripture does not work I need to learn this for myself.

That crap out of the way:: I decided to read the bible. I found 149 problems with it and that's without reading my SAB Bible.

By the end I was concrete in my opinion that God 'May' Exist but if he does we are all pretty much fucked as he Isn't very stable minded. And it also appears he punishes those who aren't on his team. E.g. Abraham - Lot - Joseph.

But since people are raising pascals wager I am a bit deluded as I now believe I am going to hell by the God of the Christian bible.

Weirdest thing is the fact that I don't much want to goto heaven as it doesn't sound much better e.g. Kissing Gods ass for eternity.

And lastly is the fact that I have my view on Genesis that falls apart quickly. Maybe I need to solidify my Athiest Belief?

Is this a correct view point - Would reading Exodus add more concrete to the Athiest Mixture or would it weaken it.

Actually - I have always recommended that a person READ the bible - start with page one - and read the entire thing.

Note that most of the stories of the Old Testament are MYTH and created Legend. THERE never was a garden of eden - nor a great flood - nor Joshua in a battle at Jericho

Now - use your intelligence - why would a god who knows everything - allow a book to be represented as its Infallible word - yet contain so MANY things that simply cannot be true.

Example - according to the bible timeline - the earth is only 6000 or so years old -so HOW come there are tree trunks with over 10,000 annual rings that can be physically counted (I know the earth is billions of years old - but I only need prove that it is NOT 6000 to debunk the bible)

A column of water of the height of the claimed great flood would - by pressure - literally destroy every single man made thing on earth - yet the flood - claimed to be 300 years after the building of the great pyramid - had NO effect on that pyramid. WHY - the story is MYTH.

If you only found 149 things wrong - you were not counting - the very first page of the bible has almost that many wrong.

You're giving advice that you haven't practiced, no where does scripture claim the earth is just 6000 years old. You have no proof against Joshua, nor can you prove the rest of the OT is myth. There are fossilized trees standing vertically through tens of thousands of years of sedimentary layers, how is that possible, it ain't.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Did you know that the claim you just made was debunked in the nineteenth century? How embarrassing for you.

He probably already knows that, but "Liars for jesus" aren't allowed to acknowledge reality.

Actually dick head I don't believe that it could however considering the multitude of other Gods its very hard to know what to believe.

Also If God wanted to send me to hell - His own creation who he 'Supposedly Loved' To believe in Jesus is to base God's forgiveness on a condition. Yet all Christians say his love is unconditional so which is it.

The fact that I am solidifying my Atheism is because I know that the whole of Genesis is a load of balls literally a pile of Shit. So considering there is what 65 books to go through I am wondering if further reading will cement this in.

Weather I goto hell or not is not the actual problem I just want to get rid of the fear of the 'What If' To be honest no one can know either way. Gods Child the fact that you are implicating I am going to hell means you are putting yourself above God like Satan did as you are playing the Judge - Jury and Executioner.

Lets have a look,
Quote:36"But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. 37"For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

Your God said that even in the last day that we have a chance to be Justified if we can reason enough! Seriously if you want to say its black and white go on ahead but I don't know If I want to kiss Gods ass for eternity.

Also given the fact a Majority of Christians are down right evil / judgemental / egotistical / self richeous bastards like yourself I dont know If I would want to be in heaven.

Yes we can say eternal torment yadda yadda yadda but if God is so fucking mighty why did he fuck up with Adam and eve who gladly ignored him from day one.

And also why did he become threaatened by the Tower of Babel. Seriously these people worked in unity.

I think the fact you are condemning me means that you will also be condemned.

So if you are in the states - Take a bullet and a gun and .... You know the rest.

Put down your fucking bible and slowly pick up a recent archaeology book. You will learn just how wrong you are.

I know you don't care. Being wrong for fucking jesus is what you are all about.

I am in a bit of a Predicament, I read yesterday about the pascals wager and so I became a bit skeptic.

Good. Pascal's Wager fails on every level. It was fallacious in the 17th century, it is still fallacious in the 21st.

Hell, Pascal wasn't even the first person to come up with the argument.

In the famous tragedy of Euripides Bacchae, Kadmos states an early version of Pascal's wager. It is noteworthy that at the end of the tragedy Dionysos, the god to whom Kadmos referred, appears and punishes him for thinking in this way. Euripides, quite clearly, considered and dismissed the wager in this tragedy.

Quote:By the end I was concrete in my opinion that God 'May' Exist but if he does we are all pretty much fucked as he Isn't very stable minded. And it also appears he punishes those who aren't on his team. E.g. Abraham - Lot - Joseph.

It is my contention that the god in the Bible can not exist due to the law of contradiction. But yeah, the god character of the Bible is a capricious, petulant, jealous, angry monster. If it did exist, it would be the duty of every moral human to fight against it's immoral actions.

Quote:But since people are raising pascals wager I am a bit deluded as I now believe I am going to hell by the God of the Christian bible.

How much time are you spending worried about going to the Islam hell?

Quote:And lastly is the fact that I have my view on Genesis that falls apart quickly. Maybe I need to solidify my Athiest Belief?

The question to ask is, is the existence of the Christian god (and hell) supported by demonstrable evidence, reasoned argument, and valid/sound logic? Any reasonable examination with a critical mind will lead to 'no' as the answer.

Quote:Is this a correct view point - Would reading Exodus add more concrete to the Athiest Mixture or would it weaken it.

There is zero evidence that the Jews were ever in Egypt in any large number, held as slaves, had a mass exodus, lived in the Sinai desert in any large numbers, etc.

So, yes, reading Exodus knowing that it is completely unsupported by reality and actual evidence will weaken it.

Think about this. According to Exodus 12:37-38, the Israelites numbered "about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children," plus many non-Israelites and livestock.

Numbers 1:46 gives a more precise total of 603,550 men aged 20 and up. The 600,000, plus wives, children, the elderly, and the "mixed multitude" of non-Israelites would have numbered some 2 million people, compared with an entire Egyptian population in 1250 BCE of around 3 to 3.5 million. Marching ten abreast, and without accounting for livestock, they would have formed a line 150 miles long.

The Bible also claims they crossed the Red Sea in a night. It would take 50 hours walking at 3 mph for a column of people that long to cross one point, let alone cross some distance of the red Sea, even at the narrowest point. And the 3 mph is being generous, since children, elderly and livestock would not be able to keep up that pace.

Are you seeing the problem here?

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
