And Hells come back to haunt me

I'm not sure that "absolute truth" is even a coherent concept (unless we're talking about merely analytical truths). I don't know what that could possibly mean in the mouth of a limited, contingent, mortal creature. I smell human vanity.

That you have found "absolute truth" in the ravings of a backward people (even in their own time) says more to me about you than it does the truthfulness of the claims you would wish to support.

At least those people had some excuse.

It's always been the smug, condescending attitude that rubs us up the wrong way.

"You're a heathen sinner and I think you're scum, but that's ok, I've been told to tell you that you can better yourself and elevate yourself to my level."

That's effectively how posts from the resident theists look. Every single goddamn post. It's fucking annoying, and it's more annoying that you don't understand it. What the hell is wrong with you?

You are what's wrong, you and others read into what we say what you want to believe, I do not judge yet you read into what I write as judgement. You say I write with a condescending attitude, nope, you're reading that into it. It's you who can not see you're the one who wants to believe I do this.

I generally don't believe in anything you say, GC.

And as for you not judging as you type...I don't believe that either.

We don't care who you are asking. Threatening us with hell is like threatening us with the dark side of "The Force".

You could threaten us with Lex Luthor and it would still mean the same to us. The only thing atheists need to worry about are the real actions of humans who buy this bullshit to be fact.

Try understanding WHY you reject threats from Muslims and their belief in their version of a fictional hell, then maybe, you'll understand why we reject your crap too.

Chas,

Don't you believe in the dancing sky-man's magic dust?

No. Angry

Fairy dust is the only true dust.

Yes, because there is no hell.

There is nothing.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Here is the problem with that bullshit,

Which one? To insure you got the right one you'd have to bet on all of them existing, and no one in reality does that.

Secondly, if you bet on a god existing and one does not, you have wasted your entire life on a lie.

Third, what does that say about your own morality to base your life on the fear of punishment, rather than question to insure quality of data. This "safe bet" is asking you to forgo any thinking for yourself.

Pascal's "contribution" to humanity was to fuck us up even more than we already were. None of this "wager" is good for humanity. It still sells ignorance and credulity.

Anything with 'wager' attached to it should be heeded with caution. Its like playing poker (which if youre christian, its an evil card game that involves gambling) and the person youre playing makes a wager to bet you $10,000. You dont know his hand but I guarantee that you will think your hand through thoroughly before playing your hand. Research of all options is the only way to set yourself on the path to truth

maybe this would help: one's heaven and hell destiny is not determine by an intellectual decision about the existence of God, rather it's their deliberate rejection or acceptance of the truth clearly revealed to them. if they determine they want independence from God by rejecting that truth, He gives them their wish. as an aside: the word 'torment' appears to actually mean 'restraint'. Those that have demonstrated the most evil on earth receive the most restrain. others have a different destiny since they accepted the truth.

RE: And Hells come back to haunt me
Cept your ' reasoning' it's flawed. First, as is said over and over again, hell poses no threat to us because we don't believe it's actually a place, only a figure of speech. Second, this living god who felt it was necessary to send himself to the earth to save us from his own judgement to the hell he created it's a crappy plan. and for him to endure that and just say ' Oh well, even though I made him a skeptic and refused to show any miraculous sign like I did back in the day, he still rejects me so he will have to burn in hell for all eternity' * shrugs*
Please... your efforts are futile here to convert.
