Ask the God of Heaven to show you the way- if He is real.

Yeah, because there never has been a person that was once a Christian that is now an atheist, that has sincerely done just what you state and not received a thing.

Oh wait...

I can list 1000's.

Start with the clergyproject.org.

Quote:My perception is atheists are frustrated and angry because God does not come to them their way- on their terms. It is like trying to push a chain.
Doesn't work. But give the above test a shot.

Well then, your moronic perceptions are wrong. What a surprise.

Angry at God. Seriously?! Why is it so tough for some Christians to understand that atheists sincerely do not believe that the Christian god exists?

Do you have any problems disbelieving that the Hindu gods exist? Yeah, neither do we, and we have no problem extending that disbelief to your god too.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

I keep reading this as "I'm going to show them that they're wrong by playing with poop and a cross."
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

On what, exactly is your "perception" based ?
How many unhappy atheists do you actually personally know, perfessa ?

My perception is that they are unhappy because the pink sparkly unicorn, they have been dreaming about, hasn't pranced into their yards yet. But I have great faith. I know it will come, and I have some heartfelt honesty.

Are you actually SO presumptuous, that you really think they could "honestly" *say* they buy the bullshit, when they don't, (and/or your god is SO dumb, it wouldn't know the difference ? )

Diego,
Move on ... "living well is the best revenge". show them you have a great life, without their crap.
Whenever they bring up beligion, just say, "Not now, not now.....please". They will stop, eventually.
Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble. - Joseph Campbell  Popcorn

Exactly. There must be plenty of other things you can do with a pile of steaming shit. Why waste your time, energy, and feces on a group of people who will not appreciate the subtlety of your gesture?

Heck, I was never angry at god.

I just lost the ability to believe in the concept.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

Pussy! You ask me my opinion on God's punishment. If you're serious about experimentation and consequence, here's what you do....

The next time your father in-law is lecturing, snort your hand from wrist to the end of your forefinger (look him in the eye while you do this to leave no doubt). Leave enough lung to inhale strongly at your fingernail. Exhale delightfully.

He should then ask you what the hell you are doing. You then get to tell him you are enjoying the sweet stink his daughter left on you earlier in the day.

If you follow my advice I can guarantee that 'God' will not be the topic of conversation.

Your perception is faulty because we don't believe in god, thats what atheist means.

It would be like getting frustrated or angry with Joffrey Baratheon or any other evil character from fiction it is literally pointless.

Now theists can be frustrating but that's another matter.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Cato123,
thanks for your suggestion but i've expressed my disapproval to my father in-law already. You can bet that he will never set foot in my house again, nor will I his.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 tells us to test all things and to hold on to what is Good. This includes God. This however does not mean we are free to come up with our own personal version of 'if there is a God he will do magic tricks for me on demand.' In the teachings of Christ we are given some ways to put God to the test. If we do as instructed we will have proof of God.
