Which is why God is not a good guy in this story. I hope you never become so righteous that God has a bet with Satan about you, because you probably won't like it.

He wasn't even specifically calling you out. If you don't hold the same core belief simply exclude yourself from the statement.

So, you are a Christian? If you're not then I fail to see why or how the statement bothers you so.

What's to comprehend? When a Judge sends a person to the gas chamber who is guilty of the execution, the one doing the sentencing (supreme authority) or the one mixing the chemicals (executioner) which kills?
Your reasoning says that the IMPERFECT, LIMITED KNOWLEDGE executioner some how waylays the PERFECT, OMNIPOTENT judges superior foreknowledge and reasoning.
It just doesn't work McFly. Which is why you MUST disagree. My advice is to renounce or at the very least revamp your theology - it's got you on the slo-boat

if god already knew the outcome of the bet (he knows everything after all), then I'd say he's merely a sadistic bastard.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

God doesn't order Satan to do anything. He says that Job is in Satan's hands. Satan could have decided he didn't want to torture Job. How you guys ignore this point is beyond me.

As I had mentioned earlier, no apologist can worm their way around the implications posed in the Book of Job. It's just not possible.

Satan also could have killed Job. Why did he abide by God's no kill rule if God doesn't give orders to him?
And knowing Satan's track record I personally wouldn't trust him to decide not to harm someone on his own.
