Why did God create the universe?

When he created the universe, he saw the sufferings which humans would endure as a result of the sin of those original humans. He heard the screams of the damned. Surely he would have known that it would have been better for those humans to never have been born (in fact, the Bible says this very thing), and surely this all-compassionate deity would have foregone the creation of a universe destined to imperfection in which many of the humans were doomed to eternal suffering. A perfectly compassionate being who creates beings which he knows are doomed to suffer is impossible.I'm quite happy in this life and also looking forward to the next. I'm very happy that God chose to create. Your position that God shouldn't have created is an argument that God should have punished those who would love him, and rewarded those who would hate him or want nothing to do with him. Doesn't make much sense.
This is essentially an unanswerable question. Any theist's attempt to answer it will by necessity be ad hoc and silly. And ffom what I've read of this thread so far, it seems to be the case.
Because he is evil
To torture theists. If he didn't create the universe, how could theists be baffoons in the life while also be in mortal fear of that which would never come after?
Shits and giggles.

Did he need to create the universe? People have been asking this since the beginning of time and they never get an answer because there is none. Theists can't answer this question and when they try, as has been pointed out, the results are usually poor. Especially if said person subscribes to the "God is perfect" belief, because a perfect being would have no reason to create anything period. But they usually just counter-argue "God is beyond our comprehension" which is basically just a big cop-out and a fancier way of saying, "God works in mysterious ways." Then they wonder why people don't believe.
