The woman has no blame. That's obvious.
There's accounts during the Prophets time when they brought the Prophet Muhammad he told the girl she has no fault and that she can go and then executed the man. You can find this all online as well
Anybody who punishes the woman is going against Islam if she was raped

Given the choice between living in my society and an Islamic one, bearing in mind that the former is many centuries ahead of the latter in almost every sense (socially,culturally, technologically), why would I want anyone want to retard our advancements?
Agreed entirely.
If I lived in one of those places I'd likely be refused higher education and the majority of the frredoms I enjoy in the West.

These questions are senseless and you would know the answer if you know anything about Islam. Rape is never justified.
The reason the man receives lashes as well if he's married is for the punishment of committing adultery and having sex with another and then received the punishment of execution for rape.
If the woman is wearing hijab it's fine while talking to a random man and a man talking to another man randomly. If the individual is well mannered he will say As Salamu Alaikum ( peace be upon you) or the response to that which is walaikum as Salam ( and unto you peace)

I wouldn't wear a hijab. I love my beautiful golden hair too much to hide it from the world.

You say wouldn't, but you haven't been dragged off the street and been brutally beaten because your head scarf had slipped back exposing your beautiful golden hair either. Things like that often lead to a different perspective.

Women who wear hijab love their hair too. Their husbands can see it as well as brother and father. They're not sexually objectified by random men.

I call BS on this. It seems Islamic men can't control their urges to the extent where, in some locations, women can't even display their eyes. And you'r telling me men don't wonder what she has under that?
