Why are other civilizations ignored in the Bible?
RE: Why are other civilizations ignored in the Bible?
You're free to hope.

Actually, whatever D-P writes is worth reading. You? Not so much.

If what I write is not worth reading, why do you keep reading it and on top of that, responding?

Have you nothing better to do?Thinking

You see it is easy to be cynical and dry and sarcastic....that's easy....just about anyone with an imagination can do that....

But to actually write something that is going to encourage and edify someone....

Well now, that is a different matter altogether now is it not?

If I were a betting man....I would wager that DeistPaladin is going to come up with some reason as to why he will not debate me on the contributions of Christianity to the children of the world's nations as opposed to those of atheism.

I mean after all....what are children on an atheistic view of reality??? They are simply offspring of a species that has evolved via natural processes acting on matter. They are intrinsically no different than young rats or young pigs. They are accidental collocations of atoms like everything else that exists. It all came about by random processes acting on matter over a extremely long period of time. There is no ultimate purpose for children no ultimate meaning or destiny. They mature like the rat or pig, reproduce and then die to become food for the worms...

As one atheist wrote in her blog:

We are an animal species: in the primate order, in the mammalian class, in the vertebrate sub-phylum. We are a product of evolution; a product of nature. Yes, we're animals with an unusual ability to shape our environment. But it's an unusual ability -- not a unique one. Other living things have made dramatic physical impacts on the planet as well. Coral, for instance. Earthworms. And, of course, plants. http://gretachristina.typepad.com/greta_...nimal.html

So there are young earthworms, young coral and young plants and young humans aka children.....

So I mean really......

About what exactly? Your god that you need us so badly to believe, as you do? I am happy not believing stories, if you do believe, feel free to do so, just don't pretend to know something actually worth knowing.

Presumption of knowing is worse than being the naive believer.

Because your bullshit gets in the way of D-P's words of wisdom.

Remember, as far as I am concerned you are just a POE.

I am glad I do not need you to believe in God. If I did, I would be in a despairing situation!!!!

What I would like for you to at least begin to start understanding is that the actions of the followers of Christ throughout the centuries act as guideposts or roadmarkers if you will that point to the indisputable fact that more good has been done by said followers than any of the adherents to any other worldview.

In a sense, the proof is in the pudding. Many of you bemoan the lack of evidence all the while it is staring you right in your face. SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE! comes the cry from the raucous crowd of atheists. SHOW US PROOF.....

And all the while they are screaming this from the comfort and safety afforded to them by societies built on the very principles of the Christian worldview which make their freedom of speech even possible.

I dare you all to go and live in an communistic country or an Islamic country where ideas such as freedom of speech and personal liberty take a back seat to the dictatorial and religious fundamentalist whims of those in power.

I dare an atheist to go to Saudi Arabia and speak publicly against the religion of the masses the same way they do here in America. The very least you will find is that not all religions are created equal. I dare an atheist to go to North Korea and try to speak publicly the way they do here in this country where the very freedom to speak publicly is afforded to you by Judeo-Christian ideals such as life liberty and the pursuit of happiness which this country was founded on.

The atheist cannot repudiate the Judeo-Christian worldview in these Christianized societies without biting the hand that feeds them!

I'm not sure why anyone would think freedom of speech is a christian worldview. Christianity believes that heresy, speaking against the lord their god is the worst sin imaginable. The one unforgivable sin, in fact. I don't see anything a good society needs that originated from christianity. What good parts in there are mostly taken from older sources.

Yes, the horrible islamic countries, where they worship the same deity as christians do, and run a theocracy like some christians over here would like. We can see for ourselves what it would be like living under such a system, and that is why we are grateful that this country was founded under secular values like separation of church and state.

I'm not sure what part of the bible guarantees freedom of speech or religion or liberty to all people of all backgrounds and beliefs.

Go to Saudi Arabia or North Korea. Live over there for a while and see how you like it. I promise you that you would be begging to come back over here and live with us poor ignorant Christians. I promise you.

Do not take my word for it. Just go.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Muslim countries make me quite content to live in a country that is predominantly Christian. Christians don't take their holy book near as literal. Not like the Muslims. *shivers*

Shame you can't do either.

Species don't have offspring, individuals do.

Intrinsically in what they're made of, yes human and rat or piglet young differ.

Evolution isn't random. Oh look. Another theist criticizing something he doesn't understand.

Wrong again.
(March 1, 2014 at 7:22 pm)discipulus Wrote: There is no ultimate purpose for children no ultimate meaning or destiny.
What's ultimate is in the eye of the beholder. Many humans consider what they feel their purpose to be is their ultimate purpose.

Purpose is always from the perspective of a mind. Do you have a specific mind in view in declaring this ultimate purpose? If so, then whose? And why is its view 'ultimate'?

(March 1, 2014 at 7:22 pm)discipulus Wrote: They mature like the rat or pig, reproduce and then die to become food for the worms...
True. And that leads to what conclusion?

Yes, you mean really what, because you haven't said anything beyond the obvious fact that we live and die.

What logical conclusion does that lead you to?

Well...now. Best to never let the fuckers attain political power again, either.

Quote:“…General Pappenheim collected a number of his people on the ramparts by the New Town and brought them from there into the streets of the city. Fires were kindled in different quarters; then indeed it was all over with the city, and further resistance was useless. Nevertheless some of the soldiers and citizens did try to make a stand here and there, but the imperial troops kept bringing on more and more forces – cavalry, too – to help them, and finally they got the Krockenthor open and let in the whole imperial army and the forces of the Catholic League – Hungarians, Croats, Poles, Walloons, Italians, Spaniards, French.

Thus it came about that the city and all its inhabitants fell into the hands of the enemy, whose violence and cruelty were due in part to their common hatred of the adherents of the Augsburg Confession, and in part to their being embittered by the chain shot which had been fired at them and by the derision and insults that the Magdeburgers had heaped upon them from the ramparts.

Then was there naught but beating and burning, plundering, torture, rape and murder. Most especially was every enemy bent on securing much booty. When a marauding party entered a house, if its master had anything to give he might thereby purchase respite and protection for himself and his family till the next man, who also wanted something should come along. It was only when everything had been brought forth and there was nothing left to give that the real trouble commenced. Then, what with blows and threats of shooting, stabbing and hanging, the poor people were so terrified that if they had had anything left they would have brought it forth if it had been buried in the earth or hidden away.

In this frenzied rage, the great and splendid city that had stood like a fair princess in the land was now, in its hour of direst need and unutterable distress and woe, given over to flames, and thousands of innocent men, women and children, in the midst of a horrible din of heartrending shrieks and cries, were tortured and put to death in so cruel and shameful a manner that no words would suffice to describe, not no tears to bewail it…

Thus in a single day this noble and famous city, the pride of the whole country, went up in fire and smoke; and the remnant of its citizens, with their wives and children, were taken prisoners and driven away by the enemy with a noise of weeping and wailing that could be heard from afar, while the cinders and ashes from the town were carried by the wind to Wanzleben, Egeln, and still more distant places…

Frankly, I find xtians terribly untrustworthy. They long longingly on the old days.
