At this point Revy is just piously peacocking to impress the man upstairs, because if he truly cared about our souls, he'd give us something to sink our teeth into. This whole vapid display is nothing more than an egotistical, self-serving charade.
Apparently, when you get to the pearly gates, they check to see how much brown you have on your nose.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
OMG! I've been an atheist all my life and now I am a Christian! Thank you Rev777 *rolls eyes*

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment) RE: Why It Is Not Too Late To Repent And Turn To Christ

Help! I was only born once, and now my mother is dead so I can't do it again. Though, I'm 99.9% certain I wouldn't fit back in there now even if she still existed. What should I do?

If god is eternal, then not only are a thousand years as a day, so are a million. And a billion. Which means that "soon" could mean that Jesus will return just a few moments before the last flicker of energy burns out of the universe... in about five trillion years. Which means that this: Quote:He will keep His promise....is fairly meaningless. Our mental wiring is such that it's natural to be convinced that the greatest events in human history will coincidentally occur during our watch; it's safe to assume that most Christians have expected the end to come during their lifetimes, and continue to expect this today. My prediction? Jesus won't be returning during your lifetime.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

He only died for his people. Not you, not me... just the Jews. He said so himself. He said that it was not good to throw the children's bread to the dogs. You have reimagined Jesus into your own personal God but he isn't. He would have considered you a dog and not worthy of his bread. He was there to be messiah of Israel... and he failed miserably at that task. He also said that his generation will not pass until all he promised was done. That generation is LONG gone and his promises still not fulfilled. So he was a liar as well as a failure. |
