As opposed to, say, a nationalist one?
I'm sure her intentions are benign but purposely favoring Americans over Chinese isn't any different than favoring whites over blacks.
For what it is worth...I used to think exactly like her but over time I have realized things and my attitude has changed.

If anything can truly be considered evil, Walmart would be at the top of the list.

Ha! Yeah, the cheap Chinese crap! Don't buy those China made energy saver light bulbs, unless you want to burn your house down. I bought some of those. One of the damn things blew out at the bottom of the bulb and caught fire in my lamp. Lucky I was home at the time.... this service announcement was brought to you by China*Mart and Wang's Club.

I wish I can find the picture I took of the one that caught fire in my lamp. I was going to post it. That article is definitely true.

Good gods!
This technology has been known since before 1938! How could someone be such a dolt! They're fluorescent bulbs, not incandescents. The game is different.
No wonder new technology is so slow -- idiot proofing incurs a significant overhead.

Really? The top of the list? I mean the top? Ahead of dictators, genocide, cannibals, Justin Bieber?

If the companies can't pay their employees enough to live, working full time, they shouldn't be in buisiness.
The economic hit a lot of rural and other areas would take is due to Walmart's buisiness practices: running small buisiness into the ground, so there's no alternative for many to shopping or working there.
It's a measure of how badly they screwed up the economy of an area, and how deplorable their buisiness practices are.
People have more goods in the Walmart Era then they did in the Mom and Pop era.
I just bought some 60 watt equivalent LED lightbulbs at 5.88 each at Walmart. At a Mom and Pop shop they would be at least twice that price.
There is a reason it is cheap. It is poor quality and won't last anywhere near as long as a quality made LED lightbulbs you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot.

You can equivocate and say you are discriminating on based on a persons citizenship or membership in a community and not the color of their skin.....but your discrimination has the exact same effect as if you were discriminating because of their skin color.
Because it's not about the fact that Chinese people are getting the money. It's the fact that, even moreso than what happens here, almost none of that money is going to Chinese workers, but rather, lining the pockets of extraordinarily wealthy and exploitative Chinese corporatists.
The only reason Chinese workers even make our stuff is because it is cheaper for American corporatists to conspire to exploit Chinese workers than American workers.
My utility company sends me a few CFLs for free every year. I haven't purchased a light bulb since 2007, and I still have three of those working. When next I do buy some, they'll be LEDs.
