I agree that it isn't just black and white, but the fact is the US has had school shootings since they've had guns, which is, in terms of US history, forever.

Yes, it's not black and white. But where will effort yield the most results?

It's mostly not about the guns, it's almost entirely about the crazy.

And the crazy is about a society that does not pay attention to or take care of those most in need.

So, you don't agree that if you remove the guns, there would be no shootings?

It is about unstable people - which includes the cops in far too many cases - getting their hands on the equivalent firepower of a battalion of infantry when the 2d amendment was written. It's also about a group of scumbags who do the bidding of the arms merchants in the guise of "freedom."

We need to look at the rate at which these are happening.

I thought to check Wikipedia for stats. While it demonstrates that the rate is increasing, it also lists shootings that aren't actually 'school shootings'.

Right.....

So, define a "school shooting" then?

The list in Wikipedia is not very accurate. We need better statistics.

But here are the latest entries, none of which are 'school shootings':

San Jose State University San Jose, California February 21 2014
Knife wielding suspect was shot and killed by University Police across from University campus.

Georgia Regents University Augusta, Georgia February 22 2014
While responding to a noise complaint, a University police officer fired after a suspect attempted to hit him with a car while trying to leave. Suspect was later found in the woods nearby with non-life-threatening injuries, and charged with aggravated assault on an officer.

The Academy of Knowledge Preschool Miami, Florida March 12 2014
Victim who was a teacher was shot and killed in the road behind a preschool by her husband in what authorities described as a domestic altercation. Suspect was caught later and charged with second-degree murder.

Benjamin Banneker High School College Park, Georgia March 25 2014
An argument between students led to shots being fired into the air in the school parking lot. No injuries reported. 2 juveniles face reckless conduct and firearms-related charges.

D. H. Conley High School Greenville, North Carolina April 9 2014
Two 17 year old students were arrested the next day after firing a handgun from a moving vehicle in the direction of the school. No students or teachers were injured.
Detroit East English Preparatory Academy Detroit, Michigan April 11 2014
Four suspects fled the scene in a car. Victim was not a student at the school.

Saint Mary School Griffith, Indiana April 21 2014
A Chicago woman is dead after her estranged husband shot and killed her in a grade school parking lot Monday afternoon and then killed himself minutes later by his house in Gary, the Post-Tribune is reporting.

I am not arguing that fact at all mate.

I do, however, refute the blanket assertion that "mostly" it isn't about the guns, but all about "the crazies." The US isn't alone in having "crazies." The difference is in most other countries you can't buy a military grade weapon over the counter.

Please define 'military grade'.

When you have defined a school shooting, sure.

You stated that there have always been school shootings. I pointed out that they were once quite rare and are now quite common.

And I ask, "What has changed?"

A person or persons enters school property with the intent of shooting teachers and/or students.

Your turn.

No, you said there were none.

Any weapon used by the military...astonishingly.

Isn't this fun?

Thanks, I am trying, but you're exhausting me.

Given your definition, can I ask why you have discounted those shootings at schools you listed?

They seem to fit pretty well to me.
