Your turn.
Any weapon used by the military...astonishingly.
Isn't this fun?
All militaries and police use semi-automatic handguns. The U.S. is not the only place where these are available to the public.
You will note that the military does not use the AR-15.

Well, they do, but it really is irrelevant. What's your point?

Quote:I do, however, refute the blanket assertion that "mostly" it isn't about the guns, but all about "the crazies." The US isn't alone in having "crazies."
It is not an "either/or" situation.
We made a conscious decision to treat the mentally ill as if they did not exist AND we have a bunch of spineless politicians who can't stand up to the gun lobby.
And then, every time it happens, we wonder how nuts get hold of guns!
It is a sick joke with a high body count at this point.

Well, no they don't. The military uses selective fire assault rifles like the M-16 and M-4.
I am responding to your statement that the problem is 'military grade' weapons can be bought over the counter.

You find no disagreement here, but to suggest that guns have nothing to do with shootings is tant amount to saying cocks have nothing to do with sperm.

I make no such argument.
But both parts of the problem need to be addressed.

Your military Chas.
Besides, what did the AR-15 become?..... you chose an incredibly bad example to indulge in your pedantic game of semantics.

And I don't, and never have, disagreed with that.

My military? Which military is that?
Being correct is not the same as being pedantic.
There are other rifles with exactly the same capabilities as the AR-15 that are not military rifles, either.
The AR platform was designed by Armalite and sold to to Colt, who then sold a selective fire rifle to the military which designated it "M16A1".
Colt sold a semi-automatic rifle based on the AR design to the public, calling it "AR-15". So the AR-15 didn't 'become' anything.
So, what is it about the AR-15 that offends you?

There is as astonishing a reluctance to "infringe" on the rights of nuts as there is on the rights of gun nuts.
One major problem in the US is that people love to yammer on about their rights but never want to hear about their responsibilities.

Nor do they wish to acknowledge the dangers inherent in freedom.
