I think you might be trying your hand at sarcasm or humor, but in all seriousness, I am exactly what the world needs. Everything about me is awesome and people should try to be more like me.

I don't even know how to smile, let alone joke. When I grow up I want to be just like you.

And so modest too.

Been a few months now and so far I got zero payoff. Squat. Diddly. I preferred my comfortable lie to this ugly truth, but having unplugged, I now can't plug myself back in or unthink what I thought.

I can't even have fun debating with christians because I would not want them to lose what I lost!

I think I'm going through the kuber Ross model for Yahweh and I'm stuck on anger.

I guess it must be different for everyone depending on their experience with religion. Becoming an atheist had a huge pay off for me. I still get what you mean though. Sometimes you think how much easier life could have been if you would have never doubted in the first place. What is it that you really miss about being religious?

*hugs*

I guess I miss the sense of security which comes from believing there is a Plan. Praying for me was a bit like fight club. When it was over, nothing was resolved, but the problems seemed smaller.

Somebody else mentioned false comfort. I'm not sure what that is! Comfort is just, comfortable.

I think this is human nature though. For example, during 2008 it was expected that the people in charge would put in measures to sort the impending financial meltdown out. This did happen, but no one really had any idea if they were going to work and they were based on very limited prior examples. We love the idea of the old wise man to consult in a crisis. In reality there are no wise men.

There is no master plan, and we as a species are forever going blindly into the unknown. I can see the appeal of the thought that we are being guided in the right direction by a God. However any achievements become worthless if a God planned it all along and was helping us out. It's like setting a challenge for a child, but making it impossible for them to lose (or win in some cases) and informing of this fact beforehand.

no "master plan" ... really? You know more than anybody I know.

What evidence do use to make such a claim? Thinking

Jacob,

Brave new world - if you haven't read it, do - if you have - read it again.

It seems to be exactly what you are pining for. Personally I prefer freedom, but if you like being a Delta....
