Nope, no surprise at all. Perhaps one set is good at being 'murican, and the other isn't.

I've gotta say, that is an interesting, accurate application of the DK effect.

Conservatives pride in being American is kinda odd when juxtaposed to their predilection for secessionist rumblings. Texas, Map of Modern Successionist Movements
So who is it that wants to leave the country?

I'm not proud of anything that doesn't have to do directly with my own personal achievements. National pride makes no sense to me.
As for this country, there's a lot in our history, and a lot going on right now, that is nightmarish and wrong. This country is held in thrall by a mindset that the value of a human life is measured by their credit score and the contents of their bank account, that the magic of the free market is the best way to determine who deserves to live and who deserves to die. That's abhorrent.

I disagree with the national pride thing, but I agree with the second paragraph. It's not like the free market isn't necessary, but it can't handle everything by itself, Adam Smith's invisible hand was dead wrong.

Actually, Smith understood the need for a "level playing field" in economics, it's his supposed followers that conveniently forget about that part.
They pick & choose.
Kinda mirrors Jesus' teachings & the vast majority of his current set of followers in the USA.
Adam Smith Wrote:"When the regulation, therefore, is in support of the workman, it is always just and equitable; but it is sometimes otherwise when in favour of the masters.
Adam Smith Wrote:"No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable. It is but equity, besides, that they who feed, clothe and lodge the whole body of the people, should have such a share of the produce of their own labour as to be themselves tolerably well fed, clothed and lodged."

I haven't read everything by Adam Smith and I didn't know those quotes, thanks.

Wow. Americans whom identify with the idea America could be/do better are less proud of being American than people whom identify with the idea America is just perfect and should not change?
Who would have thunk?
Mind = blown.
